That is noble of you… Just hope it is not fool hardy. The govt tit is pretty nice if you are the one suckling!! It just sucks for the rest of us taxpayers to support it!
To my own goals.
Stay the course! Acquire two more rental homes, and set myself up to leave the job market for good in 2016.
Just having a better year. Glad to see 2014 go, you suck as a year!

Would a defense contractor be considered “private sector”?
2015 will be the year that my business sees huge growth, allowing me to say that the last two years of sacrificing were worth it. We will see a 1000% increase in revenue.
I will do something very nice for my wife who has patiently dealt with the stress that comes from the financial insecurity of growing a business. After that, I will begin paying off every debt; so that in three years I will be debt free at last.
If this doesn’t happen. I’ll be jumping off a bridge somewhere.
My goal is to turn internet pictures of my cat into a $100 million business.
Yes. I abbsolutely hate my last three years of work as a direct government employee. I have not been able to assimilate after 35+ years in private industry.
Why do you ask? Do I need to send you a resume? ![]()

Does surviving each day count as a goal? Other then that I’ve pretty given up on goals, they only get crushed and bring disappointment and pain.

I hope the same things for you (not the bridge part)…it has been fun/fascinating watching you grow your business and take an innovative idea and make it reality.
My professional goal: make my company the recognized leader in eCommerce for Consumer Packaged Goods
My personal goal: spend more time with the people I love.

You need to become more original. Maybe you can find a grumpy bunny or turtle.
Hopefully, you’ll have more success than I did with my grumpy Badger. That thing nearly took my hand off before I made my kids start taking the pictures.
He didn’t do it. The Government did!
Maybe you can find a grumpy bunny or turtle.
Grumpy turtle is a bad idea as well. My kid found a snapper at the river about a year and half ago. It’s gotten bigger and tried to take my wifes finger off yesterday. Cleaning the tank is becoming a challenge.

It’s just that defense contractors suck at the government teat as much as government workers do; perhaps more so as they skim off profit, to boot. But they do add lots of complexity and bureaucratic layering, so they have that going for them.
Ha! Good point. Actually, I’m only going to move for a completely (as much as you can be) commercial venture…
Lotta good eating on a snapper - just sayin’.

I wish you the best of luck. My telecom isn’t really hiring (I was one of extremely few, if not the only, conversions from contractor last year), and my previous contacts are with a defense contractor. So I’m no help.
I will say that I got a number of hits from LinkedIn (including interviews with Google and Amazon!), so putting your info there might be of value.
Get a new job. I have a great job for the right person. The pay is good and honestly I probably only spend 15-20 hrs/week doing actual work for it but I like work and I like accomplishing things and this job is slowly killing me. Plus if I get a corporate job like I want it’ll provide benefits for my wife and kids.

My goal is to sell slowguy a profitable cat … and retain a >10% stake.

those bastards can grow to a foot and a half long. How big is your tank?
Also a new job. I work full time in sales and part time delivering newspapers 7 days a week. I’m putting in around 65-70 hours a week.
It would be nice to walk away from all that and have a decent sales job where I can grow my accounts and get paid for it instead of the
Mickey Mouse club that I’m with now. What’ s nice is the family doesn’t notice that I’m working as they’re sleeping. What isn’t nice is
the family doesn’t notice that I’m working.
Marriage, who knows where that will go. I’d like to salvage it, but I’m not getting any help or interest.
Depression - still follows me daily. I haven’t had very many truly dark days, but it’s just a feeling of being mediocre and blah.
Lose weight - slow going, but it’s tilting in the right direction.
