I am needing a new pair of tri shorts. Would prefer something with decent padding for the bike but yet not having the feeling of running in a wet diaper. What brand/style do you prefer?
DeSoto, they have a few of types with different pads.
Check posts 10-20. This is on bibs but they have the same models/pads in shorts too.

Kiwami for sure! The primas are as good as it gets, and crazy light. Love them!
Desoto wins again.

Look no further, 100% satisfaction garaunteed, if you don’t like them! email the owner! he will personally help you out. Start with these:

These have smallest pad and no pockets. I prefer the low cut for my body style. They also have a version with pockets and versions with larger pads (like riviera or 400 mile).
desoto 4mm 4pocket version, no contest.
Desoto Riviera
.
DeSoto, hands down the best.
Louis Garneau Lazer Tek 2 (Tri Elite chamois).
Edited to say I haven’t tried the DeSoto, but I’ve heard lots of good reviews.
TYR. 7" version. JUst enough padding, and you don’t feel it on the run. I have not tried Desoto…but sounds like plenty of people like them so I may have to give them a shot.
Allow me to be the first brand to reply. And not just a rep, or customer service person, but the founder, owner, and designer of the product. Click here to see all the different options we offer for training and racing in triathlons. Most are Trishorts.
The biggest innovation in pads is the Ceramico Integrated pads found in our Forza Tri Shorts, Riviera Tri Shorts and Bibshorts, and of course the 4000-Mile Bike Shorts and Bibs.
I want to personally invite you to try the product and form your own opinion. Please read our guarantee below and let me know if you have any other questions.

I have a Desoto suit from 2009. I used it in many shorter distance races but I retired it because it was not tight enough on my legs.
at 5’7" and 144 lbs with skinny legs, I have not had much luck with shorts that don’t work their way up and then bunch in my crotch.
The $200 Zoot suit I have now does the same thing. I recently tried some 2XU compression tri shorts that felt great on my legs but they were tight in the waist (my huge 31" waistline).
I have some PI Pro shorts from 3 years ago and they slide up too but the waist is more comfortable.
Do the Desoto shorts fit tighter above the knee than they use too? If so I will order a pair Monday
+1 on Kiawami!!
I just received the De Soto Forza tri bib today - their sizes run small. I got the large. I’m 5’-8" 165 and by no means do I have large thighs, but its very tight at the leg and hips - I wear size 32 pants FWIW. The X-Large inseam will be too long. So I suppose these will have to do until I try another brand.
Are you sure you got a Large? I’m 6’ and 200 and have the larges as well. They are relatively tight, especially the first time on, but I love them. Can’t imagine they are the same size I have though. Sounds like they might have been mis-marked.
Yup, its a size large, at least that is what it says on the bib - just checked. So my thigh measures 23-1/8" at mid thigh. If that helps get an idea of my size.
Anything from Canari or Champ Systems. My club got kits from both companies and I love them!

How do the Kiwami tri shorts and tops run size wise, compared to say Desoto or other brands…
I am going to agree with Emilio…the Desoto Forza’s with the new Ceramico pad is unreal. I’ve been training in them for a few weeks now, wore them in a 70.3 over the weekend and was never more comfortable.
