Hey guys, looking for ideas. I’m planning to join the masters swim team in January. This year has been a run focus for me. My A race is a marathon coming up. WIll focus more on swimming and biking next year. I talked to a 54 min 40k who said ride 1000 miles easy before any hard intervals on the bike. thoughts?
Beer. And lots of it.
Seriously though, I think I’m going to take up XC skiing this year. I’ve got to mix things up or I’ll go crazy.
Why wait until Jan, I joined the masters swim team this month!!

This is my first week of base building and i’ll have 26 miles running, 125 biking, and 15000 yards swimming. The biking is really low right now because i need running and swimming more. I will be closer to 30 miles next week running.

time, money, and a dedication to be on deck at 5:15am!
My main focus is this marathon and I am keeping up with the biking.
Yep, understand. glad mine does not start at 5:15. No way could I get up at 4.
I have my marathon at the CIM in Dec. Will run two half marathon races before it, but knees wont last forever so will not got nuts with running anymore.

I got a new camera backpack. I’m going to breakout the old MTB and have some fun riding around taking pictures for a couple months. Then it’s back to the grindstone. I’ll maintain an 80 mile bike, ten mile run, and as much surfing as possible until april and then decide what kind of races I’ll do then based on my fitness. I somehow enjoy braving the elements during the winter it feels like more of an accomplishment when mother nature is kicking your butt.

i’m going to run slow base miles all winter, slowly increasing my long run in anticipation of a marathon in 07.
Lots of running. I’m probably going to start about 2 weeks aftel IMFL with 3 miles 3 times a week and build from there. Injuries suck. Definitely will be run focused this winter, swimming secondary, and biking whenever I can get it. I’ll probably do a short, fast ride on Saturdays and then another ride during the week and that’s it.
I’ve been doing one hour walks at a 17:00 pace with a 15 pound pack. That helps strengthen the muscles in my feet and keeps my heart rate at a manageable, base building level.
The best off season workout would simply be cock pushups. I just lay flat on the ground and my boner lifts me up off the ground.
Sorry I thought you meant another endurance event. Im in the off season for that right now too.
No he is training for when the new thailand army enlists him.

.
Same thing as always up here in the Great White North. Take a few weeks off totally over X-mas/New Year in order to gain my normal 7 lbs. Then lift a few weights and spin on the trainer with the coach Troy’s DVD’s in the basement. And a lot of X-country skiing.

Off-season base building for me = marathon training for a February marathon, swimming as much as I care to (~30k a week probably), and lifting.
