Litespeed is a joke now in my opinion. Owned 2 Lynskey built steeds in the early 90’s and loved them(Tachyon and Vortex). Owned 1 ‘new’ Litespeed and had cracked carbon stay on drive site, w/o my bike for 5 weeks…bike was never the same…customer service sucks!
I would buy a Lynskey bike in 2 seconds.
Litespeed is now consistently one marketing gimmick after another now. The mid 90’s were the pinnacle of Lynskey’s creations…scan ebay for them b/c there are still some to be had.
I would buy a '95 Ultimate before I bought a brand new Litespeed.
I have a lynskey, and love it. Litespeed does seem to suck at the moment, I think a lot of guys in the market for a ti bike are opting for a custom from a boutique frame builder.
Yeah, a shame. Loved my Vortex prior to jumping on the carbon ship. Just impossible to make a Ti bike as stiff for racing as a good carbon bike of today. Great century cruisers though!
I have a 2005 Teramo. It’s a post Lynskey build. Best bike I have ever owned. Best fit I’ve ever had and the most reponsive bike ever. I know a guy who worked at Litespeed before, during and after the Lynskey transition and he said that the bikes they began to build just after the transition were better than those just before because of multiple issues with Lynskey building “art, not bikes”. Anyway. I havent ridden any of the newer frames but I will say the guy who told me all this stuff rides a Cervelo. Anyway, I gotta go.
Well I’m glad you like it that’s great. Yea, the new Litespeed is so good the builder chooses to ride a Cervelo…makes a lot of sense.
Go to Lynskey’s web site dude, he builds pure function. Sure you can get nice paint schemes, but there is a reason he is succeeding with his own shop…he builds quality rides people want. There is also a reason Litespeed is showing us less and less…because people are not buying what they are selling.
My brother and I toured the Lynskey plant last spring. I thought it would be interesting but no big deal. I was wrong. The passion that Mark and David Lynskey have for building bikes is intoxicating. I don’t get excited very easily and am the opposite of an impulse buyer, but I was glad that they don’t sell directly to the public because I don’t think I could have walked out of there without a bike. I have a Litespeed Blade and Vortex that I like a lot, but given a choice between Litespeed and Lynskey, Lynskey is a no brainer.

I have a few Lynskey “Litespeeds”. I will have another some day…I do have to say that I enjoy their passion and they build some of the best. My next road bike with out a doubt will come from David Greenfield at Elite. Even going on seven years (or is it eight) old…my custom Ultimate is still one of the best bikes I have ever had the pleasure to ride, and I love that it gets so many looks of awe from folks “in the know” when it comes to bikes.
