Wetsuits - Full vs. Longjohn?

In process of purchasing a new wetsuit. Going to be an Ironman suit…but am trying to decide between the Instinct or the Stealth - and also, a full vs. longjohn.

I’m a towering 5’8" and swim a 28 minute mile (35 laps/1750 yards) …don’t mind paying for either of the suits, but have read that full sleeved suits work best for taller, more powerful swimmers and can adversely affect shorter, less efficient swimmers.

All my tris will be in Wisconsin this year - so all will allow suits.

Has anyone had issues with overheating in full suits? What about constriction in the suits? Advice and experiences would be welcome.

Thanks.

Dan reccomends full. i swam Mooo in a full, no problemo, would like a 2 piece as ideally a 2 piece full is the fastest but could not afford one.

Full all the way.

I just finidhed St. Anthony’s in a full suit. Water temperature was 78, which is the max for wet suits. I was afraid of overheating, but I don’t think it was a problem. Getting the thing off was a problem though, but that is another matter.

Dan says a full suit would be about 30 seconds or more faster over that distance. I can’t argue as I had my best swim split at that race.

Thanks guys…what about reviews of the differences and absolute advantages of the Stealth vs. Instinct.

Will an average swimmer like myself benefit from the Stealth suit?

Thanks again.
