Wetsuits (10)

I am new to the site. Am looking
for one of the better wetsuits out
there. I am getting back into racing.
I can swim fast or did 20 yrs ago.
Am older now but still in good shape.

Ok as any experienced tri-swimmer knows
your body size and type can determine
what to buy.

Me I am big 180 lbs 6foot 1 inch and not
one of those stick tri people. But I am
still pretty lean.

Ok folks I hear ORCA suits are very good
quality but not for bigger longer people.

Is that true> Dan Emfield wrote a review
on ORCAs 3 yrs ago but do not know if
applicable now

Any good swimmers out there that have tried
many wetsuits and can steer me to 2-3
of the better larger wetsuits

Ok folks hope you can help out here.

Woody> hey Dan E. If you read this you gave
me that knickname way back 18 yrs ago
at the Heritage TRI in Utah. Guess who this
is!!! If ya do I will give ya a free dinner!!

I’m going to get a Blue Seventy Helix, seems pretty awesome and it looks like it will be the one that fits the best. I have heard that Nineteen wetsuits are really nice as well.

The Desoto 2 piece wetsuits are pretty cool, it seems like you could get a really good fit from them since you can choose the sizes of two pieces. I’m sure the quality is top notch as well.

I emailed De-Soto > interesting wetsuit very very good idea

Went to their website looks to be one to try that is for certain

Use to race against Emilio way way long ago.

I was surprised to see him one day in a race just 2 blocks
away from my house ie Santa Barbara…that was maybe
3 yrs ago and he still was ripping at his age!!!

When he was racing as a young guy he was also partying
pretty hard. There are some funny storys about Emilio
long long ago.

The original BAD BOY.

Those two-piece suits are definatly interesting, I’m looking into buying a high end wetsuit in the next few weeks as my “A” race is coming up, I don’t know how easy it is to get out of a two piece…

Anyone have good things to say about DeSoto wetsuits??? other than how great the customer service is???

search the archives. IMO, the T1 is superior to others- not simply due to their customer service (though it is extraordinary): amazing fit, better leg floatation, way less arm/shoulder restriction, easier removal, etc. which all make for faster times. but don’t take my word- test it for yourself with their 15 day guarantee- and return it if you don’t agree.

I’m no stick figure. 6’1", 200 pounds.
Like I’ve said before, the Nineteen Frequency and Tsunami in a large fit me like a bespoke suit.

Look out for Steve Fleck later on this site (he’s a bit busy today, covering IMC on ironmanlive.com). He’s their head marketing/sales guy, and will no doubt field any questions you have. A super-nice guy, too.
