Wetsuit Strippers

Am I the only one who thinks it’s really wierd in a sport where the premise is individual effort, that there are some races out there that have volunteers set up to “strip” your wetsuit off of you upon exiting the water?? Leaving aside the fact that this is supposed to be a non-aided sport, I think I’d feel totally ridiculous rolling over on my back and sticking my legs up in the air as the announcers at these races instruct you to do…wierd…

No, I thought that too. Very wEird indeed. Now if you could get people to take your bike shoes off in T2 and put your running shoes on, that would be worth having.

I never mind having my clothes stripped off by a stranger

Same, in fact I find it enjoyable.

But back on topic, why dont pro’s rack their own bikes? They do at the olympics but not IM. I am fine with strippers (at and not at races), and bike racking.

Aaron,

When have you racked your bike at IM? Unless there is a huge crowd there are volunteers to catch your bike.

I suspect you may not have been to an IM race to make that comment.

I am talking NAS races.

Perfectly understandable, since the rest of the time during an event you look so normal:

  • Wearing a cone head backwards
  • Spandex pants
  • Condom on your head
  • scrawny white arms sticking out of a sleeveless jersey

Those moments during a wetsuit strip will probably embarrass you to your final days.

They should cut out all the water stops as well.

Canada, florida, lake placid never racked my bikeAaron,

At IMLP is it because you arrived in a huge pack and there were no volunteers? I may have been in a fog but I recall handing off my bike at the end of the race.
