Wetsuit stretching

Hey I’m looking at possibly getting a use QR wetsuit and since it will be my first suit I had a question for those of you that already have one. That is can they get stretched out. The size for sale is the one that QR says I should get however I am on the bottom end of the size for the suit and the original owner is closer to the higher end. I know the suits are rubber but I think you get what im going for. A good deal isnt a good deal if the suit is bunchy and doesnt fit.

Thanks

So you’re wondering if the lard ass stretched out the wetsuit? How much are you paying for it?

ok let me clarify no lard asses here. ITs a QR suit in a size MS-short. and the price is 80 bucks

But that is your concern, that is has been permanently stretched by the soon to be previous owner, right? For $80 you can’t go too wrong. I’m assuming the suit isn’t local so you can try it on. How old is it and how many times has he used it?

i would worry more about how much that “lard ass” pee’d in that suit and if the skid marks are gone! Better do a sniff test!

ok not trying to be a jerk but why is it that you cant get a legitimate response to a legitimate question on forums? My basic question is can a wetsuit stretch out. I have never owned one so I dont know. Yes 80 bucks is a killer deal and thats why im even asking in the first place however I can go wrong with spending 80 bucks if the suit doesnt fit well. The previous owner says the suit was used for maybe 5 miles. SO I would estimate that at 4-5 hours of use. Not very much at all. IF anyone can really reply to this I would appreciate it. I dont want to waste 80 bucks for a suit I will just have to try to resel.

Thanks

We rent wetsuits and have never had any problems with them being stretched out. Fingernail holes and leaving it their car after the race is a bigger concern.

You can, you just have to be patient… I have the QR Superful. Great suit. I have had it for 2 years. In my experience, it does not excessively stretch out. Over time the seams will fatigue but the suit itself should not show any noticeable stretch in that limited amount of time. Eventually, the material will fatigue and become looser, but, assuming seller is telling the truth about the use, it should not be an issue.

That being said, understand that there is a considerable difference b/t the high end of the size chart and the low end of the size chart for the specified size. I have a Large-L. When I got it, I was at the high end for weight and it was skin tight. Now I am at the lowest weight for that size and it still works, but, I could definitely go to a Med-L and get a tighter fit.

For $80, I would go for it.

Thanks guys I think im going to get it.

I don’t know if they actually stretch out or not but I’ve found that I become more comfortable in a wetsuit after a few uses. Either the material conforms to my body a little better or I just grow accustomed to it.

For $80 it will be much better than your current wetsuit. If it doesn’t fit you could probably resell it for close to what you paid.

Sorry Suparuki, we like to razz people. And in the back of our minds we know someone will eventually give you a real answer. Some of it lies in the way you ask the question though. I wasn’t sure what your question was exactly so I decided to have some fun at your expense. My bad

You can always tell people you are pregnant. It works for my wife!

unless you are in a lurch to get one right away…wait until you find one that is sized right for you.

a bit smaller is always better than a bit bigger.

well…for wetsuits anyway.
