When choosing a wetsuit, should you order a size more toward you height or weight? I fall into the height limit on this suit, but I’m much lighter than the weight range.
Good question - I’m struggling with the whole “internet” sizing for wetsuits - The one I have feels like I’ve got a piano on my chest - not sure if it is nerves or the wetsuit - I’m 6 foot and just over 200lbs - (should be under) - Live in Florida and feel a farmer john would work - in the market for a wetsuit - and would welcome any suggestions ?
I’m 6’1 & 210lbs and had a hard time using the standard sizing charts. I found that going by the height requirement in the sizing chart was the best way to get a good fit w/o actually trying it one.
Disclaimer: I sell wetsuits at a triathlon store (and over the phone and via email-where people can not try them on).
When sizing people in a wetsuit I rely first on weight, then height. It can get tricky, I know. Most of the time a person fits best when in the low end of the range for weight. Other factors: type of swimmer (more experienced tend to feel comfortable in a tighter suit), full sleeve or sleeveless (if between sizes, maybe the smaller size on sleeveless), body perception of person (or how others perceive the person)…do you think your shoulders/chest/length of torso are out of the “norm” for height.
Hope that helps.

The problem with this approach is if significant differences in core lenght. The only part of a wetsuit that don’t stretch is the zipper - if the lenght of your back is different from what the wetsuit is designed for it will definitely not fit.
If you are out of range of height or lenght, my recommendation is to find another suit.
(DeSoto 2-piece suits solves the core lenght issue 100%.)
