Wetsuit Quandry!

Hi , im 280lbs 6ft 2" tall and have decided that its time to upgrade to a real wetsuit (if you get my drift) cant get any quicker so the suit surely will help?

Anyone know who makes big sizes , someone told me Quintana Roo , is this right , any other recommendations?

Help me spend my hard earned wisely

A few larger friends have really liked the ProMotion wetsuits. http://www.wetsuit.com/

Good luck!

At 6’2", 280lbs you are probably out of the range for all but QR. The good news is that a QR XXL should fit you. We have a couple hanging in our showroom right now and my only concern is that they look like they are about 7’ tall! You may need to cut the legs and arms to make it fit.

Hey Dan is there anything special that should be done after cutting a suit?

Thanks i have emailed them and ill se what happens thanks for the info
.

Thanks Dan

i am hoping to go try on the QR super ultr and hydra full sits this weekso fingers crossed should i take it that although the QR website says the suits do not go up to my size that they will stretch sufficiently to get them on and i shoud be ok
.

Depends on the suit… look inside the leg (or arm) for a cross stitch or fabric patch or taping. These are the most common methods I’ve seen.

If the seam is taped for several inches, as long as you don’t cut beyond the end oh the tape you’re ok. If the seam is cross stitched or has a small fabric patch, you need to do something to prevent the seam coming undone. I would recommend using a fabric patch. The fabric can be found at and sewing or fabric store and it can be glued in place with the cement used to repair a seam or fingernail cut. We use a McNett product called Seal Cement.

Dan E. may want to offer some additional advice (after all this is his area of expertise) but this has worked fine for us.

Justin,

Look for a QR with the logo on the chest but no arrows or other graphics. These are from about 2001/02. During that time QR’s sizing shifted larger by a full size across the board (although they swear it didn’t).

Dan does this mean the new ones will be no good for me then?

might struggle to get an older xxl methinks

Justin,

Not at all, just don’t give up if it doesn’t fit. Send me an email and I’ll check what I have but those suits handing in the showroom will be the older style, I’m just not sure which model and exactly what we have.

Thanks Dan

Im in the uk , would this be a problem for mailing etc?

Justin,

No problem for me to ship you a suit, but it makes returns (if necessary) more of a problem. See what’s available locally and email me if you want me to look at what I have.
