Have done a couple sprint distance triathlons and am stepping up to olympic length and am looking to get a full wetsuit. I am very concerened about fit, and am a fair distance away from most tri shops.
My issue is that I have a shorter inseam (longer torso) and would like a wetsuit that compensates for this. I notice that not all brands offer a tall model and some brands are rather short in the torso which would be really really bad for me.
Can anyone offer advice who has been through a similar issue?
Being from Canada, the Nineteen brand looks interesting except for the 2mm in the legs. I am not a strong kicker so I can use the extra floatation down there. Budget is $200US to $350US
I’m your same height, 10 lbs heavier, and it sounds like we have the same body proportions. I chose the two piece De Soto T1 to deal with the short leg/long torso issue and I couldn’t be happier. The T1 has 5mm in the legs. It’s also nice because you can get a top with or without sleeves depending on your preference. You can also choose to swim in just the bottoms if you so desire.
DeSoto. I have the T1, but the dos (is it tres now?) will also fulfil your fit requirements due to the 2pc design. 2pc rocks. Buck the trend and go zipperless - you don’t need it. If you have concerns about getting it off, get the T1 top for sure. (some folks like to save a little coin on the dos/tres bottoms)
I don’t think they make the DOS anymore. They now make a TRES which I think has replaced it.??? I got the T1 top and the TRES bottom. that saves $50–you decide. I love my deSoto. I’m 5-11 180. I thought the TRES top might be harder to remove, since it is a little less stretchy.
I own Desoto also. If you are interested in one (for your money T1 top Tres bottom)no matter who you buy from. Call Desoto,tell them you are concerned on size.They will ask you all your measurements and will make sure the fit is right. Others will sell at the same price but you may be talking to an employee that just does not understand, The Desoto people do.
