I bought a new Farmer John wet suit . It is a 2006 QR it listed for $200 and it was 60% off so I got it for $80.
I bought a Med. Mens : It say it will fit some one 165-172 5’10"–6’ 2" ( i’m stating this from memory but it’s close) I weigh 163–5’9.5" . This thing is so tight. I can’t imagine someone bigger than me getting into it. Also It says no vaseline ( i knew this) and no vegetable sprays. I have always used spray to get into and out of my wets suits. I have tried the stuff they sell but it doesn’t work as well and takes some time to put on. What are your thoughts on the size will it stretch ? What do you use to get slippery : )
I have never needed anything to get my wet suit on and off. I see folks using this stuff all the time.
My thought is the wet suit just does not fit correctly.
Dry, it should be snug, not tight.
I have found it is better to spend the money and get a wetsuit that fits right, than try to save a few bucks.
It had better not stretch.

I have always found that I have more difficulty getting the suit OFF, rather than on… ![]()
To aid in getting it on (hehehehehehehehe):
-try plastic bags around your feet
-bodyglide your calves, thighs, hams, and butt
-buy a bigger suit
If you really, really, really can’t get it on…you probably just have too small of a suit. FWIW, my DH wears a men’s medium QR, he is 163 and 6’. I wear a men’s medium-small, and am your height (although weigh less). I would guess you may want to go up a half size. You may have to cuty a bit off the legs, but it might be easier to get on.
Getting it off is harder than getting it on. I’ll lose about 10 pounds race season. Also I tried putting it on and off wearing a tri suit It was much easier (1st time I wore nothinh : ) ). My legs are where I have problems. Length is no problem from the waist down is.
What are your thoughts on the size will it stretch
It’s unlikley the suit will stretch. I can’t speak for QR’s sizing as I am not that familer with it. I do know that all the suits that sell in the range that, that suit sold for orginally, typically use a lower grade of neoprene who’s chief negative characteristic, is that it is not that flexible and forgiving compared to the high-end or even mid-level priced suits.
Wetsuit fit is very individual ie what works for one may not for another. Nothing against QR, but perhaps their suit cut and sizing is not the best for you. I find this particularly important with the lower priced entry level suits, because the suits are less flexible and forgiving.
A well fitting wetsuit may take a bit of effort to put on, but should come off fast when wet. If it’s huge struggle to get in on, their may be some problems - possibly not the brand for you.
Hope this helps.
Give it to your little brother, he’s 5’9" but only 150 lbs…then go out and buy something that fits really thick people…
qrguy . You suck and I’m telling mom you are making fun of your BIG bro., who can still whip your butt
