Westchester tri

first, anyone know if the results are posted anywhere?

yesterday was my first time doing this race after getting shut out for a few years in a row. I really enjoyed it - great course and awesome weather for it. It was also really well organised as I had been told to expect.

however, one or two things could be done to improve things:

  • after being kicked out of transition 45 mins before the race start a water aid station would have been nice on the beach

  • i missed a couple of the mile markers on the run - not sure if they were missing or hidden but they certainly could have been larger in general.

  • transition could be better organised - breaking up the loooonnnggg lines with aisles would make it less congested to get through and easier to find your spot.

  • 2:30pm day after race and still no sign of AG results being posted!

good to meet triyoda at the finish too…nice race man.

They’re up now

Nice to meet you and discuss the kaiser’s (kus) training regimen. No doubt he skipped the race to avoid having to take a beating from us;) I mean he could have rode from NYC to the race, raced and then ride home; that would pretty much be a recovery day for him.

Dude - you ran 39:35 off the bike and you were loafing it?

I’m glad I didn’t race it this year, you woulda made me your be-yatch and you weren’t even going hard. ;-p

Nice work. Bastard.

Matt- Glad to see you had a good race . Does this mean AZ is a go ? Either way …good to see you back swinging ! Let me know if you’re up for a ride.

We leave for Paris on the 29th and I’m hoping to get a few more long rides before then.

No, I’m done for the season. I still don’t feel right, even though I really held back during the race. My HR rate was around 90-100 for several hours after the race, which is not very normal, especially when I went no harder than HIM effort in an OD race. It was fun to be out on the course on a great day, but for me, if you can’t race in the red zone, there is not that much point in racing at all. Plus all the worrying; I am not a religous man, but I am so nervous about my heart now that I actually said a prayer before the race started.

I am going on sabbatical for a while (I have only averaged 4 hours a week for the past 8 weeks anyway; when you can’t even do a full Steve Larsen week, it’s time for a break.

Anybody know if the swim was shortened last year? Sure looks like it.

Was this year the full .92?

Adam

Yes, last year it was 1100 or 1000m. They said conditions past the jetty were too rough, so they shortened it race morning…

The swim seemed about right this year and the times bear that out (17:XX for wetsuit ITU pro swim). Last year it was shortened due to high chop and did not go past the break wall; it was no more than 1000m, if that.
