I am scheduling a bike ride first thing Saturday morning from West Palm Beach to Ft. Lauderdale. We will meet on A1A at 7:30 at Charley’s Seafood and head south. I am figuring we should be able to make pretty good time since we won’t have to worry about traffic. Disk wheels not recommended.

I am figuring we should be able to average at least 30 mph hour for the 50 mile trip down to Ft. Lauderdale. When will we ever get another chance to do that.
Of course, the return to West Palm may be a bit problematic. I will grant you that.
I just had a vision of the wicked witch riding around on her broom in the clouds, glancing over to see AJ on his bike doing the same. Let us know how it feels to do 140mph on the bike AJ.
Wear your GPS so Tom can input it into his super cool website. THAT would be a rocking neat analysis.

I am feaking. I am figuring on total loss. House and contents.
Yeah, but you know what? It is only stuff, in the end, and can be replaced. Me, I’m making sure my pictures and papers are safe (with me) and the rest can either be there when the wind dies, or not, as the case may be. Bugger all I can do about except take the necessary precautions, and then stop stressing. Try to make sure you (and your family) are personally safe, your insurance is current (bit late to think of that, I agree!) and put your head back up when it’s over.

Get your bike to a shelter so we can do the ride. At least then, it won’t be a total loss.
Yeah, my bike stays with me, wherever I end up. I think the ride should start at the east end of Alligator Alley, around 9:00pm tomorrow, it’ll only take us about and hour to get to Naples, we can sit the storm out there over a few beers, then figure out how to get back. Maybe draft behind some unlicensed roofing contractor’s pick up truck all the way to the first poor bugger to flag him down to give him money for a new roof that’ll never be seen.

If you make it over to Naples, stop in for a beer. We live right at the west end of “the alley”. Our house was already hurricane tested with Charley. I’m sure Joe will take you all for a run on the beach Saturday afternoon, but his bikes are gong in their airline cases to protect them.
