You can’t have anyone worse than her
.
You say that…
BoJo’s a go-go!
no idea why he, or anyone else would want the job. Partnership with the DUP while trying to find a solution for Brexit and hopefully unifying the country?
from the schematic on the BBC MPs get to narrow this down to 2, then about 125,000 conservative party members get to vote on who the next prime minister is. in a country of 60 million that seems like 59 and a bit million are getting stiffed by the system.

You are either going to get a complete idiot, because no sensible person could see a way to make Brexit work without upsetting a majority of country. Or you get some incredible narcissist that thinks they can solve this impossible problem and become one of the great PMs of history.
I don’t think either one is a great choice. I suspect most sensible people are just waiting again to be PM next, after this PM has made what terrible decision about Brexit comes next, allowing them to step in and blame everything on the previous PM.
I think it’s better than this
Every deal cut with the DUP to the right alienates centrists such as grieve and clark
Both of whom would vote to bring government down rather than no deal
Labour can’t win a majority period
They have lost Scotland. So best they can hope for is a coalition with SNP or lib dems
Tories can’t win a majority any more so they need dup or run a minority government
Lib dems and SNP can be king makers. Price for one will be second Scottish ref. Price for other is stay in eu or norway
Boris will say anything to win but I suspect he’d rather reluctantly say second ref needed rather than general election
Tories are stuck. The whole thing is stuck but I suspect we have Almost certainly seen the end of the two party system
Anyone that wants this job at the moment is mad. The parliamentary arithmetic has not changed and they will not support no deal so they win leadership appealing to 125k hard Brexit loons and then, like tessa, have to break all the promises they made
You have a Queen. That’s a solution
You mean Elton…
You mean Elton…
I award you three points

i know it is getting odd when as left leaning, anti-privilege guy i read that and think…an absolute monarchy with Queenie in charge doesn’t look too bad (and I’ve seen GOT). She seems sensible, moderate, conservative - but not pushing her values on others. I’d take that over some of the options if i was in the UK. i guess it sets the UK up for a disaster when crazy George gets to the throne in 60 years though.
i always thought the whip system, and no primaries or gerrymandered districts kept uk politics close to their center (which was to the left of the center in the US). Winning the center was critical and to do that a party had to be closer to the middle than the other major party (Thatcher could win against Foot because he was further left than she was right even though both had abandoned the middle; Blair could win against major because New Labor won the center (and 18 years was enough for any party to be in charge)). Now that seems to be complete bollocks as everyone scampers for their extreme corners of crazy town. it seems as bad as here in the US.
I am curious to know who you think should be elected (note, I am not looking to debate what you / I think the Brexit outcome should be).
Hang on, Brick Top’s in the mix!

Just don’t try to fuck with the gypos.

I suppose there might be a slightly enhanced chance of a new Brexit deal for the EU27 to reject.
As Rutte said today, May wasn’t the problem and the deal is not up for renegotiation, whomever takes over.
How much better will May’s resignation make Brits feel as they careen over the “no deal” cliff?
Upside: if they get out of the EU quick enough they won’t be on the hook when Deutsche Bank goes down and takes most of the rest of Europe’s banking system with it.
DB market cap: $15.16billion
Other companies with similar market caps:
GarminYum brand’s Chinese subsidiaryDarden Restaurants (Olive Garden)Region’s Bank (a regional bank in the U.S.)Keep in mind that none of the companies above have liabilities of $1.5trillion or a $49trillion derivatives book (that’s TRILLION with a T). Deutsche Bank does. DB is f**ked and, by extension, so are the German taxpayers… and probably the rest of the EU. Why? DB’s problem is just a manifestation of Europe’s broader NPL problem.

Would they bail the bank out?
So another Remainer in charge of leaving the EU, and someone who stuck with May to the bitter end.
I used to like Rory Stewart. I remember reading The Places in Between when it first came out. Now I think he’s a snivelling weasel.
