Ironman 70.3 Kansas: Wellington races and free training days

Two-time Ford Ironman World champion Chrissie Wellington will head the field at Ironman 70.3 Kansas on June 14. “I have heard great things about Ironman 70.3 Kansas,” says the Kona champ. “I am excited for the challenge and opportunity of Kansas 70.3.” Athletes registered for Ironman 70.3 Kansas also have the opportunity to take part in a free training weekend on April 18-19.
Undefeated in Ironman competitions, Wellington is one of the world’s top female competitors in triathlon. After making her Ironman debut at Ironman Korea in August, 2007, Wellington went on to become the Ford Ironman World Champion. Since then, she has won Ironman Australia, the Sparkasse Frankfurter Ironman European Championship and in Kona again. Wellington set course records by over 10 minutes at both Ironman Australia and Timberman 70.3.
Free Ironman 70.3 Kansas Training Weekend!
Ironman 70.3 Kansas wants to make sure you are race ready so, back by popular demand, the second annual free Ironman 70.3 Kansas group ride and run presented by Sunflower Outdoor and Bike will take place on April 18-19 in Lawrence, Kansas.
Come join fellow IMKS 70.3 athletes for a FREE Training Weekend!
Saturday April 18:
56 mile bike course ride.
1:00 p.m. Q & A by Race Directors
1:30 p.m. Group ride leaves.

Aid station provided. (At mile 15 and mile 32) Support vehicle on course for mechanicals.
Please note: This is an open to traffic course. All traffic laws will need to be followed. No extra traffic control will be present.
Sunday April 19: The Kansas Half Marathon
Ironman 70.3 Kansas athletes will receive complimentary entries into the Kansas Half Marathon!! Yes that is right … free.
The 2009 Lynn Electric Kansas Half Marathon is proud to be held in beautiful Lawrence, Kansas on April 19. Join runners from across the midwest on a tour of Lawrence. Runners will be treated to a downtown start and will travel through several historic sections of Lawrence.
Three races offered in 2009 are:
Half Marathon
10K
5K
The USATF certified Half Marathon course offers a little bit of everything…just like Lawrence.
Proceeds from the Kansas Half Marathon will benefit Health Care Access a not-for-profit clinic that serves 1,800 low-income clients and others in the Lawrence Community.
Athletes receiving complimentary entries will not be eligible for prizes or race goodies. However, they will be treated to the post-race party and food-fest.
