Bienvenu from Annecy. One of the most beautiful towns in all of France. We’re situated between a crystal clear lake and mountains. It’s a tri paradise! Lots of eye candy today from all those helicopters. I must say that is very exciting to have the tour here.
I have had the pleasure of visiting Annecy; it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. When I was there , that lake was so clean and clear, it was like a pool.
I can’t wait for helicopter shots tomorrow.
I’ve been very lucky to live here for 3 years. The beauty is majestic. It will be hard to leave.
Must be neat to see it in person.
Hope you are well.

I’ve lived in France for 8 years and have never seen the Tour. Very exciting. My son and his friends spent the night on Col de Bluffy-the top of the TT climb waiting for today’s stage. LA went by warming up about an hour ago. Lots of action.
Very cool, and so jealous you live in Annecy. I was backpacking through Europe a few years ago and our plans got derailed by the Hundred Year Flood (including an evacatuation from Prague) so we changed our plans just randomly decided to go to Annecy knowing nothing about it. We ended up staying there much longer than expected. It was gorgeous and we just fell in love with the area. I’m excited to see it on TV tonight.
How is your son’s ski racing going ? Annency is an awesome spot for sure. Last time I was passing through I tried to synch up with Frenchfried, but with a limited window of time before making a flt in Geneva, it just did not work out. But for the rest of you, a direct flt from NYC or Chicago to Geneva, get in your rental car and the Alps are your back yard. Much cheaper than doing an Ironman in North America when you consider the outrageous 5 day hotel minimums and jacked up prices.
I can’t wait for the tour route for 2011 to be announced to see if it works into my family summer plans!

Dev-we move to Burlington Vermont where my son will ski for UVM. I hope to catch-up with you on the Lake Placid ski trials.
It was so great to see the Tour this year. Yesterday we hiked the ski trials from La Clusaz down to Grand Bornand and watched the finish-then hike back over the col. Today we were so please to have a little sun to show the true majesty of this area.
I’m gonna miss it!
It looks very beautiful there. Did you enjoy having the whole TdF coming through? Was eating out a nightmare?
French Fried,
YOu are leaving that beauty just to watch your kid ski in college? Man, that is devotion. I would stay, and visit once in a while. YOu won’t find that peace and beauty here!
Yes it is beautiful with the old historic buildings, lake and mountains.
Photo of old jail taken looking over the crowd at the race.
There is a nice outdoor pool also which i am looking forward to checking out tomorow.
The pool is wonderful-opens at 10AM. 50M and most of the women swim topless! have a great time
We absolutely loved the TdF coming to town. Everyone here seemed to be the perfect host. It was very organized from the underwater explosive teams to the gendarmes of EVERY road, driveway, and then some. People got out the scooters and bikes since are the roads were closed at 7AM. Jeannie Longo came and rode the course for the Dauphine talking about each section. LA came 3 weeks ago and marveled at the lake and beauty. Yeh, it was great and the whole region loved it. The mayor, a world champion kayaker, got the idea to have the Tour in order to showcase our village for our Olympic bid-2018.
I’m a little nervous about being shot or runover by a truck while biking. And ref my son- I don’t need to see him ski-I need to see him get settled in the American culture! scary
