Besides EPO, can I mimic the effects of weight lifting on the bike by putting it in the 53X11, and at slow speeds power the gear for say 15 revolutions. My economic situation dictates I train cheaply and I need to figure out a good hamstring workout. Seems it would be like weight repititions and add strength. Any ideas or thoughts on this?
Um, sure. Go uphill to really make it hard.
Or man up with this hammy workout… Lay face down. Put a pillow or pad under your knees. Have a buddy hold your ankles/feet down. Now, bending at the knee, raise yourself up using your hams and glutes. You might not be tough enough to do these at first. If you aren’t, start at the top of the movement and lower yourself down instead. Someone will still need to hold onto your feet, of course. When you can do 10 slowly, you should have plenty of ham power.
Buy a swiss ball, $15 on sale, and try this for a hammy burner. Lie on your back w/ your knees bent just less than 90 degrees, feet flat on the ball, hips raised off the ground. Roll the ball forward until your legs are fully extended, hips still lifted, then roll it back to the starting position, hips still lifted. This will hurt the next day, guaranteed.
