Weeks between a half and an ironman

im doing cda but was hoping on sneaking in a early half … how many weeks would i need to have between the two races …obviously my ironman is my focus so i want to be sure that im recovered and ready for it!

I would say 3-4 is probably as close as you would want to go and only if you are treating the race as a solid training day. However, Devashish Paul is testing a new tapering theory with a fast, hard 1/2 in Peterborough last Sunday in nasty heat just 2 weeks before IMLP so we can check out his results to see how this works :slight_smile:

You see this debated a lot…and I am still not sure what the answer is…

I was thinking of a half about 8 weeks out - but thats about when you should be hitting your biggest volume and to rest for a few days then recover would take at least a week total - more like 9-10 days.

Now I am wondering if 4 weeks out is best - rest for a few days prior - race hard. Then take most of the next week off/easy - then you do your 3 week taper…what do you all think?
