I have a 70.3 this coming weekend and I’m down with cold and a nasty cough at the minute which is not ideal.
First time traveling (flying) and racing solo. So mostly excited but also fairly anxious dealing with all the logistics.
Kingy - I hope you have a smooth travel day and feel better soon.
@Chowders - another good week for you?
@aedhana - haven’t heard from you in a couple of weeks. All going smoothly? Has that niggle settled down?
I am feeling way better about my oral surgery stuff because I rang them today to ask some final questions and I’d misunderstood what they’d told me about driving. Just being able to drive myself there and back has alleviated a lot of the anxiety and stress about putting someone else out.
Training is going well - mainly just easy stuff as I get over the last of this cold.
Oh that is so nice of you to follow up
Good luck for the oral surgery. I had a tooth removal + implant and it is never a funny moment
On my side I had a 13k run on 25.01 and it went well but felt the tingle sensation in left Achilles tendon again the next day Still no pain or sound
I looked it up and unless there is pain, the only thing to do is to train (but not push beyond pain) and be meticulous on strength conditioning
So I dutifully did my my workout last week, extra care on calves and mobility, and stopped training when pain on left Achilles tendon was reaching 5/10
Yesterday I ran a 20km. 6’30/km pace easy (150 bpm average) and if I still feel a strain there is no pop at all
So I will continue the work on calves and mobility (on top of other muscle groups) but I will still talk about it to my physician to try to get some physio sessions
I should go back in the pool at some point but the cold doesn’t help
@Scheherazade what day is OS?
@Kingy good luck feel better
@aedhana hi! physio + POOL!
@Chowders thank u
cant type mich today, 299 days in a row healthy coping tho
calorie avg met past wk
goals for this week- 306 next mon (uhhh 300 tomorrow!)
meet calorie goal each day
Got back on the bike today for the first time in weeks, which felt great, even if the pacing was easy. Intervals on the bike later this week. Easy run and intervals this week too.
I did a 750m swim last weekend, so now I know I can make it through my first race in June, now the time just needs to start coming down. This week’s goal is going to be to pick one bit of technique in the water and spend a day focused just on that. Probably figuring out what I’m actually supposed to do with my legs.
Wednesday.
Also, WOOOOO 300.
Pool for the calves/achilles tendon or because I have been lazy for too long? XD
Or both?
Kudos on you for your discipline, 299 days and going strong!
Got my 10k of swim done, ~7hrs bike and 35k run + strength/mobility. 17hrs all in, which isn’t nothin’ for me and felt like a week I can stack throughout my base period. Achilles was a bit sore early in the week (still not doing my full squad hill reps session) but good by the end of the week, so fingers crossed I’ve got it on the run, so to speak. Did hill ‘sprints’ yesterday (which I think is probably the thing that irritated it in the first place) and no stiffness this morning so very hopeful.
Less positive on the ‘phone in bed’ behaviour. Need a better tactic when I feel the urge - something to work on this week (and in the past just writing about it here has helped).
This week is 3rd of 10 weeks general base work. Plan is pretty much same as last week: 10k swim, 6hrs bike, 37k run + strength/mobility.
Have a great week everyone!
Good luck for your race and hope the cold/cough passes in time - let us know how you get on
@Scheherazade best wishes for the dental work
@aedhana glad to hear the popping has stopped … there are a couple of ‘The Prehab Guys’ podcasts about achilles tendon rehab - worth a listen if you can’t get to a physio.
@Dr_Tigerchik congrats on 300
@PatrickCleary first race as in first ever triathlon, or just first race this season?
@Chowders it’ll be my first ever.
Good luck! You got this!
@aedhana both
300 days! party!!!
Well that’s exciting! Good luck with the rest of your prep Look forward to the race report!
@Chowders I think we can make at least a race report happen. I don’t have a silver bullet for the phone thing, but at the end of last year I decided this place (along with a tiny bit of Reddit) was going to be my social home. I may have feelings on aero, but at least I don’t go to sleep as stressed. Or a really good book.
I got my planned training run in tonight, 4.25 easy miles with some hill reps at the end and 195 of a planned TSS of 480 done this week. Tomorrow should be intervals on the bike.
Starting to see the zone 2 pace increasing, which is nice. Now we’re making a knock off Korean dish for dinner.
301 days… 43 weeks in a row!
Bailed on today’s workout as I woke up to my watch begging me to rest and a pulsating ankle where I kicked the swim lane divider a couple weeks ago. Took it easy and I’ll try to get on the work peloton tomorrow to make up for it.
good job resting @PatrickCleary it’s ok to NOT make up the workout, too
302 days!!
cal avg : meeting it… still scary
24ish hours post the massacre in my mouth and I feel… almost totally normal! Eating is a challenge because one side of the mouth is out of action so I’m having tiny spoonfuls at a time of tepid food.
Today was going to be a rest day anyhow, so I just shuffled things around.
Definitely sad that it’s a peloton and not my trainer, but it makes up for it by letting me meet up with a buddy tonight.
