We know all about the 'big' races, but what about

the more regional ‘smaller’ races that exist.

For example, the NY Tri/Bi series in Harriman State Park 30 or so miles out of NYC offers a great experience.

What about races near you?

(Yes, this is completely self-serving as I’ve begun to turn my obsessive compulsive personality onto the 2006 rces that I want to tri (hah, get it?))

thanks,

Bump…

Interesting that this thread died so quickly…

maybe becuase it was such an open ended thing…kind of like the one where the guy wanted to know race dates for next year…pretty broad and kinda early.

how about narrowing the scope somewhat? could get more action that way. just guessin’.

Bar none best small time race ever River City Triathlon, early Aug Shreveport,LA. Get in early as 1200 spots sold out in like an hour and a half last year. Music, food, beer, great goodie bag and they gave away a car.
The swim is in dark water, the bike a rolling loop that is hot, and the run is pretty flat. Chip timed.

I really prefer the smaller races to the big, mega-multi-wave races. It just gets too crowded, or too confusing, not knowing who you’re really racing against, all that. I like the small, one-wave races. BuDu puts on a whole series of races that tend to be smaller in scale, which suits me just fine.

BuDu?

BuDu Racing is a local race promoter/director in the Seattle area. Does several sprint tris, a few Oly’s, some off-road tris, and a TT. And I know the guy from a long way back – we used to do bike races together.
