We get the House. Now maybe the Senate

Maybe by Saturday I will wipe that big f’ing grin off of my face. Poor George.

Do you suppose we’ll know by Saturday? Recounts in VA & MO seem almost certain.

Wow, a Democrat wins Tom Delay’s old seat. Talk about irony. Holy shit.

Then there is McCain on CNN – says the reason the right lost was the war, and it was because the generals said we needed more troops and the right didn’t pay attention. What an admission!

I’m wondering how Kinky Friedman polled in Texas.

Whoops, edit that - 12% for Kinky.

What I like is you think anything will change. All that will happen is a tax increase. Spending will continue to go up, we will still be in Iraq, same sex marriage will be a fantasy, etc. etc. etc.

But what the hell. Your team won and that is all that counts.

How can any of you talk about elections when Britany and Kevin are getting divorced! Have you NO priorities?

Maybe nothing will change because there is no way the Dems could spend more, grow government more, or get less accomplished in immigration, national security, or foreign policy. Increase taxes? You mean someone someday is going to have to pay for 6 years of ginormous deficits and pork barrel spending? Maybe nothing will change, but at least we’re starting off with people who didn’t create the current screwed up situation. I only wish we Americans could fire more of the current Republicans.

Gridlock, SWEET gridlock!!

you sleigh me! lol…brilliant!

The title of this thread alone is good enough to explain why politics suck in our country. My team, your team, you suck, I rule, it’s all really pathetic actually when you think about it. Seriously, these people are representing US and the only thing that matters is MY TEAM. If we actually had people representing their constituencies and not their TEAM maybe we would be a lot better off and we wouldn’t see any Foley’s, DeLay’s, Cunningham’s, Jefferson’s (is that the Louisiana guy?), Abramhoff’s and all other associated pukes that make “represent” us.

Rant over HURRAY FOR GRIDLOCK. Now we need to get a good Republican candidate for pres in '08 so that we can maintain gridlock.

I voted a split ticket. Republican for Senate, and a Democrat for Congress. I can support middle of the road, centrist candidates from either party. I see a lot of right-wing Republicans went down. I think this is a good thing. Perhaps this election will be remembered as one where America began to shift back toward the center, and away from the right-wing/neo-con/religious right style candidates. That, IMHO, is good thing. I think John McCain got it right when he said Republicans were losing because they had lost their way.

Now the Dems have a chance to get some stuff done. I seriously hope the next 2 years doesn’t turn into investigation after investigation, which will only serve to continue the polarization and division in this country.

I would agree that I think that these election results are a good thing. I was merely making a point about the polarization of our politics.

I ended up not voting because I moved to a new county 2 weeks ago and couldn’t make it to the old county to vote. If I could have voted it would most definately not have been a straight party vote. I may have actually voted for our Green candidate for governor, simply because the Rep and Dem candidates are both incredibly corrupt. To me corruption is something that should be weeded out and stamped down as soon as it is brought to light. In Chicago Daley should be run out of town, Blago should follow quickly, Barr Topinka has nothing to do with the Ryan scandal? Yeah right! Illinois politics are pathetic.

Amen. It amazes me that any voter thinks one party or the other represents him or her, when in fact all politicians share one thing, the desire to line their own pockets and represent their own interests. Dems think scandal and corruption will go away because “their guys” are in office? Yeah right. Both parties have long since stopped representing anyone but their own personal agenda. We need another revolution.

Same sex marriage is your fantasy?

“same sex marriage will be a fantasy”

What I like is you think anything will change.

I think lots will change, even more arguing and partisanship and gridlock. The lame duck Presidency will be longer than normal. We will be hearing for a short time how everyone wants to work together but I doubt it. The only hope is if the Dems realize they have to start coming up with their own policies to prepare for 2008, instead of just bashing.

All that will happen is a tax increase.

Maybe but really, that’s because this current “Conservative” government was anything but fiscally responsible. For the Republicans to run up massive debt and then blame the Dems for a tax increase is the height of hypocrisy.

Spending will continue to go up

And that is because they are politicians. Not Democrats or Republicans, just politicians.

we will still be in Iraq,

That’s because Bush is still President.

**same sex marriage will be a fantasy, etc. etc. etc. **

Maybe for about 30% of the population. For the vast majority, it will be a relief.
