Guys can cook too, whats your budget?
Lobsters always nice…
who said girly girls can cook?! that’s what the boys are for.
dessert is key. mmmm, pie…
women always love big thick steaks on the grill, corn on the cob, salda with tons of stuff in it like bacon and cheese, wings for an appatiser and most importantly lots of beer. I’d duggest a 1/4 keg or she’ll be real pissed.
lol…snack attack…you’re not playing for our team are you? (you need to know there is more than one use for the word pie…though both are quite…nm…already said too much)
ewww, no, i didn’t even think of that! geez. guys!
i was thinking of apple pie, peach pie, chocolate pie, key lime pie… that’s why i am snackattack. but, hey, to each his own…
What is her favorite food/meal? Take out from a favorite restaurant, served on real plates, is not bad.
One suggestion is instead of torturing yourself with trying to cook from scratch, try some of the prepared foods at Costco (of the like). Or a deli chicken, brushed with apricot or plum jam and reheated in the oven, sliced off of the bone, served with buttered pasta, get a bag of mixed salad greens, steam a head of broccoli, and pick up a chocolate cake for dessert.
Rather than sweat over something home made, get a little help. It will be the presentation and the night off of cooking that she will apprciate. I would just rather someone else do the dishes instead of the cooking.
LC,
Dude you just keep on it. Hard to beleve Mrs. Hinds57 thought you were a nice guy. But if she had good taste I guess she wouldn’t be with me.
Dave
This is what I’m making for dinner tomorrow night and it could make a great Mother’s Day dinner if you can grill outside wherever you are at.
Guacamole is super simple, you can make the salad/salsa early and prep the kabobs and steak at the same time. Then you only have to worry about cooking the steaks and then serve it up. Then grill the kabobs and serve. No worrying about timing 4-5 dishes to finish all at the same time.
Snack/Appetizer
Homemade guacamole and chips
Main Course
Grilled green chile-stuffed pepper steaks wrapped in bacon
Black bean and corn salad/salsa
Dessert
Seasonal fruit and melon kabobs (potentially grilled with a fiery chile sauce)

Hey, Mr. Senior Analyst, what’s one of the first things you do when you have a new project? You find out from the users what they want. Ain’t nobody on this forum who knows what your wife and kids want. Once you figure out what is wanted, then check your resources (skills & budget) to see if you can swing it. Then you can ask for help.
“peach pie” and “chocolate Pie” could be construed likewise
.
See, I knew that was coming. I almost put cherry pie in there too.
Damn.
Last week I told my boyfriend I had a “six inch” sub for lunch and he flipped out like a 13 year old. Later, I said I wanted a “long, hard” massage and got more of the same.
How do you guys concentrate on anything?
i’d suggest making brunch, unless the meal in question has to be dinner. you can buy…baked goods (i’m afraid to list them…thanks kentiger!) and make pancakes and eggs…and, of course, mimosas.
I don’t cook much either, but breakfast foods are the easiest to make, IMHO.

My family will eat what is put in front of them (lurker, don’t tell them that). I am more concerned that the slowtwitch community buy-off and have a say on my family life - I know what and who are most important.
You want to come to dinner Ken?
A: 19 seconds.
Q: What is the average time elapsed in any conversation between a male and a female before the male brain switches over to sexual thoughts?
They can’t concentrate on anything when there is a female (ok, person of gender that you dig) around.
AP
that was nasty…
Me, myself, speaking as an idividual…I am grilling some lobsters…and cooking up some crab cakes that we caught at Amelia Island last month…green salad…and then the big salami.
That’s classic and so true. I was driving with my hubby today – both kids and my mother-in-law in the back seat. I put my hand on his wrist just to be friendly and he turned to me smiling and said “hey there babe, are you trying to start something?”
From a lady’s perspective: I think that she’ll be happy with anything that requires absolutely ZERO effort on her part. That means that you pick the menu, you shop for the food, you prepare it, you set the table, you do the dishes, and you clean up the kitchen afterward… If you do all that, you can’t go wrong. Promise!
