Skiing opens here tommorrow on fake snow.
For skate skiing, is there anything special to know, or do the usual temperature ranges apply?
This is my first time doing this, so all input is appreciated.

Waxless skis are the way to go; especially if you’re new to the sport.
If you’re classic skiing waxless may be the way to go. If that’s not possible I know that man made snow is very aggressive and strips kick wax pretty quickly…klister may be the way to go or, possibly, klister covered by hard wax. If you are skating I’ve had good luck waxing for snow that is colder and drier than the forecast may appear.
how do they put down fake snow for nordic skiing ???
i ain’t heard of that
we got a foot today of the lake effect stuff in N NY

I ski mostly fake snow… Rough rule of thumb - glide wax a little colder than usual. Grip wax is a completely different story. Grip wax WAY warmer - I even use klisters most of the time in artificial snow.
ERNordic.com has a good wax book.
Have you tried bikini wax on those things? It makes them really smooth and they glide great.

You make it just like for downhill, but over a couple of kilometers.
caleb, i assume for skate?
remember this, manmade snow is usually dirtier, so some fluoros will help repel the dirty snow.
i ski almost always on LF 6. hard enough to have some durability, but a very broad temp range.
you will likely want a universal structure.

dirt.

Thanks - Are you re-waxing every time you go out, or only every now and then?
Do you consider the LF6 better than Rex blue?
rex blue is one of those waxes you always have in the box, like Start Green. I have not used it in many years as I have a swix connection, and swix is cheap and easy. (btw, did Finn Sisu tell you to get rex blue?)
for aggressive, manmade snow, you are probably glide waxing every 30-40K of skiing.

Rex blue is great stuff.
