Watson wins Du LD World Championship

Greg Watson won the Duathlon Long Distance World Championship today…too bad Benny and Jonathan Hall had to withdraw.

Never met him, put Greg seems to be a class act guy who’s at the top of his sport while holding down a full time day job. Congrats!

I realize none of the Tri mags will give this any decent coverage so thought I should.

That is great news! Met him at the Du Worlds last year in Switz. He is truly a great guy, and no spring chicken anymore. Where did you get your information on the race?

results are at: http://itu.sportsindex.net/fredu2004/itu2004/lists/itu.php?race=2

BTW…John Phililps was 14th
.

Great job Greg. Nice to see Greg win a big one.

yep, he was in a class of his own. So was the race atmosphere, too. Because of an injury I had to withdraw from the mainrace and start at saturdays short distance race (10 k running, 60 k cycling, 5 k running). Even though it was a minor part of the race weekend we raced on up to four laned closed roads. Being in the top5 on most of the bike I had my personal police motorcycle leading me through the whole bikecourse (well, until I flattened at 45 km´s). And people were chearing all over the course. WHAT A GREAT RACE!
