Is anyone sure (like as close to positive as you can get) about the water temp at Disney? Don’t want to drag a wetsuit down there if it is just going to sit in the hotel room…

According to KJGrog the water temp is way to warm (See his post on the Disney Half). I live in Tallahassee (4 hours North) and I seriously doubt the water temp here is low enough for a wetsuit swim.
Im sure. Leave the wetsuit at home. It will be plenty warm.
Too warm in my lake here to swim outside right now. Even in a “BottomFeeder” speedo…its just too hot… Its brutal hot here today… I teach Elem. P.E. and outside was rough for me today…freakin heat…i am withering away I tell you!
As for the wetsuits…the Ft. Wilderness Marina is no help either. I just called and they said it is low 70’s… No freakin way! 1–407–824–2900 They said they just go by what the local fishing guys tell them. Maybe if we keep calling they will go measure the dang thing…
Danskin tri race on the SAME lake was yesterday at Disney. Sommer Sports measured 84 at their race… No wetsuits yesterday at that race…
Down here at the Gaylord Palms Orlando visiting my folks… The pool was packed tonight! Much more than the NTC! Crazy I tell you…bout 8 of us at one time doing laps. There were not lane lines so it was good sighting practice for sure.
I was certaining getting some strange looks walking around the lobby in my speedo. These upper class people have no idea!
Fisherman are always looking for the cooler water, the fish bite more, Most Pro’s have a water temp gauge on their boat and stop when there is a water temp change, that usually means fish.
Maybe the fisherman found one spot that was in the low 70’s or something…which I still find hard to believe… But who knows.
So how many of those seven upperclass people beat you in the pool at Gaylord? Come clean now Speedo Man.
I had 3rd fastest swim split last night at the Gaylord behind the guy with snorkle and the lady with the nose plug. I was moving. It must have been the speedo!
Kevin,
What’s the temps been down there? I’ll be flying in Friday morning. Doing the practice swim on Saturday. Did you happen to do this event last year? Any parking advice or anything out of the ordinary that may help with some unforeseen circumstances of having a tri in Disney? I’m not staying at the Wilderness. My gf has a condo just a few miles from Disney but I don’t have the address. She had taken care of all that.
Chris
The air temp. is 88 today. Slight breeze every now and then but still hot. Did the event last year. See my post “Disney Week is here FWIW…”
For parking… just like any M-dot I would say to get there as early as possible if you want a good space.
I did the race last year but stayed in the camping area in an RV so parking was not an issue. Doing the race again this year but staying in an off site condo. I was planning on Parking if allowed near the check in area to the camp site where the buses are then biking to the race site that morning. I am not 100% certain that you can park there, but I will look to find out on Saturday when I get there.
Peace,
RF
It will definitely be a non-wetsuit swim, however, last year they offered up a bike/run for anyone scared of doing the swim w/o a wetsuit.
