So for the passed few days I noticed some condensation inside my Polar S520.
Today the screen is blank, although it still beeps when I push the buttons so I don’t think it’s completely ruined. Anyone else have a similar experience?
The HRM is about 8 months old, but I have no idea where the receipt is. Is it worth trying to get Polar to fix or should I just replace it? I was never crazy about it anyway.
THat usually only happens if you change the battery and don’t properly replace the seal, or if you push a button underwater. In any event, Polar’s service dep’t is real good for stuff like that. They’re just out on LI and their turnaround is quick. Go to polarusa.com and follow the instructions there. Since the 520 has only been out for less than a year, they know it’s still under warranty, so I bet they’ll work with you even w/o documentation.
If you registered online or through the mail, I am sure that they can track down the unit by serial number and know that it is within warranty.
Polar Canada did an excellent job on fixing my S720i when I had the same problem happen. The red button also cracked and I sent in all the parts. Not only did they replace the battery, but I got a new face plate also so other than the strap, it looked brand new when I got mine back. And they did it in a day.
