Water in wetsuit

I recently purchased my first full wetsuit. I drove around to a number of shops and tried on every wetsuit brand I could find in my size. I had a hard time finding a wetsuit that fit my body type. They were either too tight in the legs or too loose in the shoulders. I finally found a wetsuit that fit pretty good, except for a little fold of material under the arm pit, not much, just a little fold. The tri-shop sales person said it was a good fit, as did another saleman. They both appeared to know their stuff and seemed knowledgable.

Today I did an open water swim in it and half way through my swim I could feel a small amount of water in the arm pit area. Is this acceptable? Is it OK to have a small amount of water puddling inside of the suits arm pits?

Other than the small fold in the arm pit, the suit fits great.

Hence the name wet-suit. Just kidding. Yes, you will have water on the inside. That is what helps keep you warm, a layer of water is warmed by your body and kept in by the suit. If the pocket under the arm is flushing water through, counter productive. Is it both arms? I am thinking try a different suit of the same brand to make sure it is not a manufacturing defect.

Alternatively, try on more suits in the quest for a better fit.

Good luck.

Some folds under the arm pit is OK, and it will of course be filled with water.
The suit that would fit you perfect is DeSoto. I had the same fit problem as you with standard brands, but with the bib one size larger than the top, my T1 fits perfect.

yeah, totally fine as far as the water, if there are other fit problems than maybe a problem but you actually want a bit of water in that suit so that the fit works a bit better.
