Looking for an inline water filtration system for my kitchen. Anyone have a favorite?
jedi,
It depends on what you are trying to do. What is your water like now? Well or city? Do you have iron? Do you have a water softener? Are you looking for better tasting water? Does your water smell funny?
There are so many types of systems and they all do slightly different things. THey also all do similar things. Cost is certainly a concern as well.

What ever you do, don’t fall for the smoke and mirrors pitch of any of the big boys (Rainsoft, et al.) You can accomplish anything you want with a visit to your local Home Depot or Lowes for a 10th of the price and you’ll never know the difference, except in your checkbook balance!
I’m looking for an inline, under the sink, drinking water system that is reliable. The new faucet I’ve installed with my new countertop won’t work with any of the faucet-mounted filters.
I’m willing to drill an extra hole in the countertop for the drinking faucet.
Looking at consumer reports, it looks like Aqua-Pure by Cuno or Kenmore are the winners. Does anyone have any field reports with these brands?

I have well water at my house so my water is hard and I have some soluble iron as well. Once my water enters my house I run it to an inline whole house filter that removes sediment and other impuritites. I replace the filter cartridge about every 6-8 weeks. Normally it isn’t that bad, but sometimes it is. Then I run the water through my water softener. I have a Reynolds softener that has 2 brine tanks so I never am without soft water while the system is regenerating.
My personal feeling is that I have some of the best water I have ever had by the time it gets to my faucet. Any under the sink filter would be redundant for me.
The reason I asked those questions was that if you are simply looking for better tasting water to drink, there are options and possibly an under the sink model is adequate. But if your water quality is poor, then perhaps you should consider a solution that would improve your entire system.

Hmmm…I neglected to mention that I reside in a condominimum complex. I’ll have to see what my options are. Learning as I go, so thanks for the input.
I live in a condo complex and was looking for cheap, easy to install with several options and something that would do the job pretty well. Went with Aquasana…their smallest system has two filters and can be hooked up under sink or on top. They have other units as well.
