Watch this

Very cool. For true sports fans, a good mix of the amazing and the notorious!

PS Where were Dave and Mark? Maybe a small blip on the world of sports, but a classic memory nonetheless.

PPS No soccer/futbol? How about the ‘Hand of God’?

Great clip. Thanks for sharing. I missed Edwin Moses the hurdler.

B.

That made my day Jim Hinton…and its gonna make my fathers even more. Thanks for sharing. Any way we can edit out Nancy kerrigan!!! Why…why…

I was worried the Miracle on Ice was going to be overlooked, but that was a sweet way to introduce it.

Whats intersting is see how many ‘clips’ you saw happen ‘live’. Not ones you have heard of or seen over and over (like Jordan hitting the famous shot over Eloh; or McEnroe yelling at judge), but that you actually remembering happening as you watched.
I counted 32 for me

I loved the Payton clips- what a great football player and better person, what a loss.

The only time I ever felt like crying over someone I did not know, the day he died.

I miss Michael dominating everyone…I remember exactly where I was when MJ hit that shot to get the Cavs’ demon of their back.

I miss Sweetness and everything he was as the best running back and as a human being.

I miss the times when people cared about the olympics because of actual pride they had in their country…not just bumper stickers or shirts or sayings. Johnson’s 200 record still blows me away…almost 10 years it’s been.

Did you guys forget FloJo, Jessie Owens (x2), Carl Lewis?

That was sweet.

“Yea, I was looking for the Robinson clip too”

I know nearly nothing about baseball- in the opening sequence there’s a shot of a golfer (Ben Hogan?) followed by a clip of a baseball player standing in a dugout and talking, I think his hat has a “B” on it- who is that?

Ken

jackie robinson “B” is Brooklyn Dodgers
.

Thanks for that, I thought it was Robinson but wasn’t sure. I’ll just throw in a comment here- I think it’s cool that they had the OJ clip and Kerrigan (although one “why” would have been plenty) it’s the good and the bad of sports, and of course you can’t have the great moments without the terrible ones.

I’ll add my thanks to the original poster- incredible clip.

Ken

I’m not a soccer fan, but I would of expected to see a Pele (hope I spelled that correctly) clip. I think the only reference to soccer was the chick that was paid by Nike to pull her shirt off (to advertise the Nike sports bra) after she scored.

Also, I’m not so sure Nancy Karrigan really belongs on the same levels as Jordon, Payton, Robinson, Ali, and others in that video.

Was she really paid by Nike to do that? I never heard that.

No, she was not paid to do that. I hope no one thinks that is true.

The golfer is Byron Nelson. He has the record for most consecutive tournamment wins- 11 in a row I think.

Brandi Chastain was NOT paid by nike to pull her shirt off. If you watch enough soccer, you will know that is something that ALL soccer players do when they score a goal…or the superman, or the corner mambo…they have lots of celebrations and that is just one of them.

Nice they ended with Ali’s photo, the greatest sports image of them all…

LC
Without doubt! Everything that sport is about, wrapped into one powerful image. I get a lump in my throat every time I see him standing bigger than life over Liston.

However, just for the record, Nike may not have done it, but I would gladly pay Brandi Chastain to rip off her jersey!

Wow, that was awesome! Some of the most terrific and agonizing moments in sports. That Dwight Clark catch still hurts to this day.

Btw, I think the Kerrigan moment *should *be there b/c it was one of the more memorable images in sports even though it didn’t actually take place during competition.

So what events/athletes do you guys think were left out, taking into consideration that the clip is definitely skewed towards American athletes and events?

Off the top of my head, I thought Bob Beamon’s famous jump should have been there.

Ok, never mind. They showed a split second of the Beamon jump at the very beginning.

I could have done without the Superbowl Shuffle.

I’m not a soccer fan, but I would of expected to see a Pele.
He’s in there … 4:33 just Barry Sanders, Reggie Jackson, Maurice RIchard and the Canadiens, and slightly before OJ (in the snow and the White Bronco)

And another thing … Why is Eddie Murphy crying at the end???
