Your helmet needs regular polishing. Once a week would be a little on the dry side, 3 times a week would be average but still healthy, but if you can get it once a day - your obviously paying for it.
…and doint forget to readjust the strap back when your finished, plenty of nasties can breed there.

Polish it as much as you can man. Just be careful with your stroke rate. My mate Hitman learned the hard way when he got his stroke rate way to high while polishing his helmet…

after i posted I sort of realized that it might pertain only to the male species…lol. no wonder i didn’t get it.

On a less “ahem” male-oriented note, I remember reading a tip in a bike mag that suggested you take it in the shower with you, wash your hair, then put the helmet on and rub it around to get the soap all in it, then rinse (and repeat?) as usual.
Me, I just hose it off after every ride because I sweat like a nervous stool pigeon in a sauna.
Ones Helmet needs regular polishing, my girlfriend likes taking care of my helmet and she does a great job, she cleans it from top to bottom, paying particular care to the hard exterior and makes sure that theres nothing left inside. It can be quite time consuming so I never rush her.

Before you flippantly dismiss the questoin as a guy/smutty thing, ask any top grade ball players how often they clean thier helmets. And more importantly than them being clean is giving them a light oiling prior to use again. Studies have shown that a lightly oiled helmet wont damage as much when it is impacted. The force is deemed to be less and it lessens the potential damge. So dont be afraid to lube up the helmet after cleaning it just might save your ass.
