Do you make these kinds of posts really late at night after you’ve have a few (too many) beers?
What brought this thread on? Seems like a good place for another non sequitur.
There is a 70.3 in Muncie, in July, that uses 5 foot tall, orange buoys for their athletes to sight off of.
There is another race series in Muncie what uses 2 white buoys, about the size of a 5 gallon bucket for sighting.
Lol. I have only watched a few Ironman races, do they all have big buoys like that? The bigger and more noticeable the better imo.
Well. We must have been a little testy post SB…did you stay up to late? LOL. Maybe a Panthers fan?
The spelling was on purpose and the swim course comment…how many athletes have gotten out of the water in 24 years=100%.
Buoys same 4’ size as anyone else. And happy to drop my signature line when the ST community does like-wise.
And. Only see one other RD in this thread. We don’t tell people how to fly airplanes…because we don’t know how.
Had an athlete walk up to me last month and state one of the races back in the mid 90’s was the best event she’d ever been to in her life. Those are the best comments. Yours…?
Congratulations on either being a small enough race to fly under the radar of the WTC lawyers or simply ignoring their cease-and-desist letter for use of “Half Iron” in your event name. Either way, you don’t see many indie triathlon events still manage to badge with Iron in the name. Kudos!
Pretty sure you can refer to the distance, just not the brand. So Half Iron Distance race would be ok, referring to Ironman would not. I could be wrong. To the OP. How about a little context to your post. Or did you just need to vent?
M~
nope. The correct term is “half distance” if you need to reference the event distance in the name. Otherwise it’s like calling it a
Better to instead just give it a unique name like pigman, milkman, barrelman, etc…
I think you would be best served by begging Dan to remove this thread. Paints you in a very bad light, as usual it seems.
What is the point if this thread? Are you trying to get people to register for your races?
Concur. If you feel the need to tell everyone how great your races are, it could be they’re not as good as you think.
These threads are quite bizarre, but somewhat entertaining nonetheless! It’s a bit like watching a video clip of a drunk person making a fool of themselves.
I’m confused now… are you (OP) saying we should ONLY do WTC events because they are the only properly organized ones?

This made me laugh.

So you do not value feedback from athletes because they don’t know what they are talking about?
What I find interesting is that your post is in direct conflict of my experiences. Perhaps I’ve been ridiculously lucky, but I’ve never done a bad triathlon at any distance. Sure, some were more better organized than others but all have been 7’s or above on a scale of 1-10. Most of my complaints about any race are weather or pothole related.
Perhaps in real life you are not as douchey as you come across this thread. Nonetheless, consider turning over this race series’ social media marketing campaign to someone with a modicum of writing and people social skills. Good luck.

You’re right we don’t tell pilots how to fly airplanes but if they lose our luggage constantly and don’t meet OUR schedule expectations we are most certainly permitted to point these failures out.
This reminds me of one of those emails telling me Ive come into some money from Nigeria.

Are you trying to help yourself or dig a deeper hole?
As others have said your comments are bizzare and can only hurt you.
You insinuate that athletes need you to tell them what they want. You’re getting testy and challenging prospective customers and ambassadors to justify themselves and you tell us someone liked one of your races, imply that you must therefore be doing it right and suggesting that athletes enjoyment is what drives you…I doubt it!
No-one here seems impressed by your approach. You really do just come off as an arrogant would-be bully. Hopefully that’s not really you and your posts are doing you an injustice - In which case, stop posting!
One more thing:
If you don’t want us telling you how to run a triathlon, stop telling us how to enjoy our sport.
The best service providers solicit customers input and take it seriously. You’re a service provider and you claim to be one of the best, yet you’re not only ignoring potential customers but also telling them they’re not qualified to comment! Astonishing!

Agreed. I saw John Salt commented in this thread. Steve (Stindiana) should read all of John’s posts to see how to do things right when it comes to posting on ST as a RD. I wouldn’t hesitate to do one of John’s races if I lived up in NY or Ontario. I wouldn’t do one of Steve’s races if he comped me a free race, free airfare, free lodging, and a per diem. His posts over the last few months have gotten bizarre. The volunteer thread was just nuts.
Well that is 10 minutes of my life I will never get back. What a complete waste of a thread - and I am still not sure what to make of it all?!?!?!?!?!

It took you 10 minutes? That’s nothing - I remember a thread last year that took a few hours to get through. The cool thing though, if you read all the posts, you got a free trucker hat.

Goddamit. I never got a trucker hat… I must’ve missed a post somewhere in the middle.

^I liked that line the best.
I met Steve at last years TBI conference, seemed perfectly fine to me. I’m actually concerned.
