Anyone care to suggest some cold weather bib shorts? To be used cross racing and training with and without leg warmers (or with tights). I use Voler bibs most of the year but the fabric is not very wind resistant.
Thanks

Desoto wet suit bibjohn. ;^)
Hincapie makes a pair that have WindTex on the front crotch, thigh, and shin region. very toasty. You know what I mean if you’ve ever ridden anything with Windtex as a wind barrier.
Bergamo makes some very warm bibshorts. Some have wind protection as well.
Thanks. I think that the basic Hicapie shorts are the same as the basic Bergamo shorts as they both use “Super Roubaix” lycra. I will order one pair or the other today.

I have a pair of the Hincapie bib knickers with the super roubaix fleece. Very warm. Wore them at 35F last saturday and my legs were very toasty.
Just out of curiousity, why do you want to go with the warmest shorts, and not something that covers your legs down to the ankles? preference for knee warmers?

I use knee warmers that go to about mid calf in conjuction with with wool socks - pretty much covers the whole leg. If its real cold I add a thin tight over it all. I can push the socks down, take the knee warmers off, etc. Pretty flexible system for me.

Are you talking about the bib shorts or the bib tights? Did you get the ones with or without chamios? I got the pair with chamios (bib tights, that is). Road them for the first time on Sunday. About 45-46 degrees, little wind. I wasn’t overly impressed. They weren’t bad, but, I heard great things and it wasn’t as good as expected. I don’t like the flimsy bib straps, they were a little baggy in certain areas and did not block the wind that well.
Generally, around 40 deg is where I go from bib tights only (w/ chamios) to bib tights w/o chamios and bib shorts under. When it gets under 40, I go w/ my Assos bib tights (over bib shorts w/ chamios), which are ridiculously expensive, but, unbelievably warm.
JSA:
The bib shorts with the padding. I will use knee and leg warmers depending on the temp. But these have the fleece lining for the thighs and crotch that seem to be much warmer for the below 40 degree days.

Got it. I haven’t tried the bib shorts. So, the bib shorts have fleece lining for the thighs and crotch? Cool. I will have to stop by the lbs tonight and check them out. I wear Etxeondo bib shorts which I love, but, provide no warmth. Thanks.
I love Assos bibs shorts or Knickers; very warm and high quality.
Get these, if you like Voler:
Or, stuff a hanky…that’s what the pro’s do. Makes you look bigger also…
