Warmer climates... WATCH OUT!

The midwest has had some unseasonably nice weather. Where we usually have to relegate ourselves to indoor trainers and treadmills the warm weather in the 50’s and 60’s has allowed us to train outside at full strength. You guys are in for it at the big regional races!

50’s and 60’s? brrrr that’s winter weather or me. Yes I am spoiled and hate cold weather, which is anything below 60 degrees.

I agree with that!! I was spoiled in FL. Trained outside 365 days per year. Now its Sedona and its currently still in the 70s but a cooler spell in the 50’s is on the way. I’m gonna be riding indoors on a Fortius VR trainer for 2-3 months. I get really cold under 60.

In Arizona! OMG, my 4 year old daughter rides outdoors when it’s 50.

Exactly. That and spending ten days a month somewhere warm and some new Computrainers and hopefully I’ll have something resembling fitness this spring…

Happy Thanksgiving My Friend.

Depends on where you are in AZ. I’m at 4500ft and it does get cold here. We see about 15 inches of snow each year. I’ll bike down to 50 but would rather not. Even in FL, most people don’t realize it, but we had days in the 40’s in Saint Augustine.

Heh… I’m just givin you some S*$T. I have family in hawaii and when they come out to colorado to visit my kids are practically running through the sprinkler in the yard and they are wearing sweatshirts.

I’ve lived in Winnipeg and Houston, TX. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum! Not sure which I prefer, though. I like to think I’m a man of all seasons - keeps life interesting.

I’ve dubbed myself a “summer seeker”. I wish I could live in CA/AZ/NM or else hemisphere-hop every year. That would be cool. I was very happy to get out of the midwest (Illinois sucked), but now it’s getting pretty chilly in Vermont!

50 degrees and only a 10 mile an hour wind (maybe gusting to 20), that is some good training weather here in Iowa. 40 is about my limit.

60’s in South Dakota this week - been running outside in shorts and a t-shirt.

I’ll run outside until the teens or so.

Aw c’mon Mike. We had a beautiful day up to Mt Wilson. 50 in La Canada at the start and 40ish at the top. The descent from Wilson to REd Box was a LITTLE chilly, but, overall it was beautiful.

I am curious as to how cold you folks in the midwest will ride your bikes? Snow on the ground?

Do the bikeshopseven sell cold weather gear where you can ride in 30degrees weather?

I live in So Calif, and my limit is rain.

That is why a lot of us race and ride cyclocross at this time of the year…We race a ton of our races w/ snow and ice on the ground…except this year (so far). 25 degrees F is about my limit to be outside longer than 1.5 hours or so. Pearl Izumi and other brands make a TON of great warm stuff: Lobster gloves, Gortez MTB shoes, etc…It is actually very pretty when it is snowing and usually warm (30ish F) …as long as the wind is under control, it is not a big deal at all. We just rode 1-2 hours yesterday and it was 40F when we were out there…felt great and could have ridden all day.
