Wanted: good shoe for midfoot striker

I feel like I’ve become a midfoot striker on my runs through faster running and Chi running. I run (mostly) in Brooks Adrenaline but feel like I want a touch more padding in the forefoot. The various websites aren’t very helpful. I plan to go to my local running store too, but wanted a poll of my favorite online community first. I liked the Newtons, but they’re too pricey to run in year round. Any other suggestions out there?

Lots - some that are “marketed” to people who think they need to are:

Brooks Ghost, NB 800 (new model), Saucony Sinister - but others work well too.

thanks I’ll try them
.

i been running in saucony grid sinisters, which are my favorite. i also like the saucony paroumount, but might cost too much, the saucony triumphs have alot of bounce on them too… gosh i feel like a saucony rep. but those shoes are just soooo comfy…

i’m 5.8 157lb and feels great!

i hope that helps.

Another Saucony fan here. I run in Tangents, which are labeled as ‘light stability’, but they are nowhere close to a traditional stability shoe. They are just a padded flat with a slightly stiffer medial beam, so they are comfortable over long distance. They don’t have a big built up heel and they are fairly light. You might also enjoy some of Mizuno’s lightweight trainers. If Saucony’s didn’t fit my weird foot size so well, I’d be in Mizuno’s.

I just got a pair of Nike Jasaris that I like very much for my mid-foot strike. The cushioning is good, but I’m not sure I’d want to do 20+ in them. The Jasari is a really good fast training shoe…just a touch more cushioned and stiff than a flat…just enough to be comfortable on an 8-mile tempo.

But my favorites at the moment remain the Asics Speedstars. I can run anything from easy 4 mile recoveries to 50ks in them. They are fast and light…but still enough shoe that racing flats feel markedly different and better for racing.
