Biden verbal gaffes again…BIG TIME on the International stage at a time of political crisis.
Some of his other verbal goofs, in recent times, have been glossed over by the general media; such as, at the ACA signing “this is a big F***ing deal!” caught on tape.
Plagiarism issues have followed him since college and he still keeps coming out smelling like a rose. MSNBC actually took him to task, a bit, this morning, which surprises me.
He has been relatively strong at the relationships of politics.
But it is interesting that MSNBC came after him after his weekend statement that “the world is literally fraying at the seams” - that statement could be viewed as a swipe at Obama (or at least a statement that creates some separation as he explores a presidential run).
But I agree - how hasn’t he been called out more often for all his stupidity.

I don’t know his background but it’s obvious that gettting elected to Congress is fairly easy for some even when they are absolutely incapable and incompetent. To get to VP requires an equally incapable and incompetent person to place you there.
Because his verbal gaffes have little impact on whether or not he is able to do his primary job which is working Congressmen, Senators, Governors, contributors, lobbyists, etc to fall in line on a political agenda or piece of policy/legislation.

I agree with this, but, find it amazing that anyone you mention can possibly take this guy seriously.

I think they probably see a different Joe Biden behind closed doors than the public sees in front of the camera. Probably the same with a lot of politicians.

So, why does Obama continue to allow him to go out in public?
My mind wandered a bit after I posted this to…fire Biden and let Hillary take the last two years. Then it occurred to me that she’d be better off staying out of the VP office fray and doing her 2016 pre-run blitzkrieg.

I would agree. I bet he’s much worse in private where he doesnt have to censor himself or hide the liquor on his breath.
Gaffes have always been his thing. I think people who like him anyway find them somewhat endearing, and it doesn’t matter if he alienates people who didn’t like his politics in the first place. His gaffes don’t seem to have any impact on his ability to work with other politicians.
That said, if you look at his trajectory - he was senator of Delaware, didn’t have to be a player in state politics anyplace like New York, Texas, California, etc. and was never a serious threat to win a presidential primary. He’s the sort of politician who might have had a chance a generation ago. As someone more-or-less supportive of his political positions, I actually think he’d do a decent job of being president, but that’s never going to happen. These days the office of president goes to the person who’s best at being a candidate, not best at being a politician.

Oh wait, this is a thread that is not bashing Obama? I can’t imagine why Obama would want Biden going out and drawing attention to himself over some colorful remarks that basically amount to nothing…

His latest gaffe wasn’t a “colorful remark” that didn’t amount to anything. His extremely poorly timed remarks threatened to break up the Arab coalition operating against ISIS. Hence his immediate apologies to the countries he called out.
