If he was a super biker/runner and sucked in the swim you would never have heard of him. It is my theory that elite swimmers get an overly inflated sense of their potential in triathlon because they start races at the front and convince themselves “I just need to learn to run” that goes along with Kenny Souza “just needing to learn to swim” It aint gonna happen

I second that, we hear allot about this SAC but I have not heard of him being any good.
I’ll get flamed for this, and the person shall remain nameless. However, by looking at the ads in tri magazines, you would think she is the biggest star in the sport.
Zack ran 2:47 at Roth in 97 I believe and followed it up with a 2:48 a couple years later. He couldnt put it together in Kona but has 2 of the 4 fastest Im times in history.
I wouldnt call him overrated

Spencer - I wish that guy would just figure it out. He was such an amazing racer earlier in his career.
Bjorn - Man can he ride but I wish he could run.
I think other than the top person, these guys are amazing but just never got it together for the big races.
SL - (Simon) Not of all time but this year. Is he going to make it too Hawaii. Maybe he should race as an age-grouper to get there like the other SL. LOL
That’s my vote. Although, she has a great “career” going…and I hope she pulls off some more results real soon…
As for men…I’d say Tim DeBoom until a few weeks ago. The past couple years have been rough. Go Tim! So, my vote would be Luc Van Lierde (duck for cover).

Hmmm, I don’t understand some of the responses. Are these triathletes themselves solely responsible for their public ratings (don’t the tri magazines, and sites like this have much to do with it?)? In many cases, I don’t think so, yet some of you sound like you are blaming the athlete. They are simply doing the best they can to grind out a career in this sport - no different than SAC. I see no reason to flame them. None.
