VO2MAX thoughts?

Ok, So doing a VO2MAX test helps define your threshold between aerobic and anaerobic state, right? Question I have is this - without going to a center that performs the V02Max, are there any acceptable alternative methods in detrmining this threshold? Is running the rudimentary test with a Polar heartrate monitor sufficient?
Thanks.

No

Not really

No

I think you have the VO2Max test confused with a LT test, which can kind of be done on your own and you can do a test to get a comparable number (like just finding your own threshold that you can hold) and using that for training is mostly all you need.

I lucked out and had a Free test done at the local university.

If you’re close to a campus that has a Human Kinetics or Physiology, check out the hallways for “Wanted” posters. In Ottawa, it appeared, the labs were continuously looking for volunteers willing to undergo VO2Max, Lactate Threshold tests etc. for various student projects.

I’m not skilled enough to properly understand what my results mean, or how to improve based on them, but it was fun nonetheless.
