Vittoria rubino tires, Trainers or racers or what?

I just bought a set of vittoria rubino tries at 48 cdn. (I think about 35 us) for training since I can’t get the cash for a whole wheel set for training. Next thing I know, I see them selling the same wheels on new cervelo’s, even the P3’s! What’s up? Could we be getting a good tire at a decent price, Or did someone make a mistake?

i got mine for 35cdn when i bought them…i loved them as training tyres, race on the michelin pro race/ironman…

There’s more than one model of Rubino.

Rubino = 60tpi casing/wire bead/130PSI max - 300gram training tire, low cost, very durable.

Rubino Pro = 120tpi casing/folding tire/130PSI max - 210 gram training tire, good mileage.

(there are other models as well - Rubino Tech, Rubino Slick)

Diamante Pro = 210tpi casing/folding tire/15-PSI max - 210 gram training/racing tire. Almost a good a ride as the Open Corsa, and only slightly more than a Rubino Pro. Slightly faster wear, but worth the difference. Also less rolling resistance with the higher thread count casing. You should be able to find these for about $5 US more than the Rubino Pros. If you are looking for a reasonable cost racing and training tire, this would be a great choice.

I handled our team’s tire order and the Diamante Pro was the hands down favorite. Those who spent more got them as training tires (Corsa tubulars or Open Corsas for racing), and those who spent less got them as their primary racing tires. Rubinos and Rubino Pros were pretty much purchased as training tires.

Hope this helps.
