I have read Tom D’s review of the product. It seems like the real deal. But I am curious to see if anyone had used it with Race wheels. Like on a disk wheel with a “Crack Pipe” or or on an 808 with the Zipp Valve Extender.
I’m thinking the stuff might just gunk up in the valve extender/disk adaptor and you’d be stuck changing the tire anyway.
The overall real world trials posted here seem to indicate that it doesn’t work. Do a search.
My n=1 attempt with a regular wheel/butyl tube failed (not even close). Adding crack pipes and esp. the screw over the top extenders would only make matters worse.
It got me home earlier this week… Had a nice sharp flint jabbed in the tire that made about a 1/4 inch slice - I worked the little arrowhead out of the rubber, shot the Pit Stop in, spun the tire around a few times and it got me the last few miles home. The next morning the tire was flat but I used a floor pump and it seems to be holding ok for now. Not sure about use with extenders/pipes…
Was in Hawai’i for nearly two weeks around Honu and only had my 606 tubie set to ride on. Got a flat on Monday while 40 miles from home. Had plenty of CO2 and a V.pit stop. Shot the tire with pit stop and inflated. Held O_kay. Got it up to 100+ psi but then it would slowly leak back down to 60-80 psi. Kept stopping every half hour or so to give it another shot of CO2. Made it home and it’s a lot better than having to replace a tubie in a race but it’s not perfect. I’d give it a B- for what it was able to do.
Re: Crack Pipe… I wouldn’t try it. 1) it will be the last time you will be able to use your crack pipe as I am sure (guessing here) that the sealant foam from the pit stop will clog the pipe and 2) I am not sure the sealant will properly be delivered to the tubie when going thru the crack pipe.
