Vittoria Evo CX tubies and Zipps valve opening

I glued on an Evo CX onto an 808 but I am having issues getting the tire to seat properly by the valve. I have heard of trimming out the hole where the valve goes into the wheel but I dont think you can do that on a carbon wheel. Any suggestions? The rest of my mounting job looks pretty good. I think it may be something with these tires because my Easton’s did the same thing but digging the hole out on those worked to get the valve to seat better.

On carbon, use a file rather than a drill. Take off as little material as possible. It won’t effect the strength of your wheel unless you get pretty crazy with the material removal. I’ve done it on Zipps, Lews, Nimbles, etc with no ill effects, resulting in nice round tires.

What about a different tire? Do all tubie tires have a tendency to mount like this?

Yeah, pretty much.
