Vittoria "Crono" Evo CS Tubular?

This is a relatively new tire, 28"-20 and 170 gr. It has many of the same features as the more traditional Corsa products but lighter. I e-mailed Vittoria and they said it would be fine for an Ironman.

Does anyone else have any feedback positive or negative with these?

Thanks in advance.

I thought about it but skipped out as I want to run 21’s…not that the 1 makes a difference but Josh at Zipp recommends 21’s as better for Zipp wheels - plus I think the bigger tires may be slightly more comfy with less rollong resistance? Seems like teh trend is to avoid skinnier tires. I know its only 1mm…but if you’re spending that much fpr tires/wheels - you gotta be anal…

I think the weight is meaningless vs. other stuff.

Dave,
Is 0.5mm gonna make any difference in aerodynamics? Which count for more:
1.Rolling resistance?
2. aero differences?
3. comfort? maybe 23 mm might be better for IM’s

PS I don’t know the answer.

I saw a post that contained quoted info from Josh which compared tire widths that performed best with some other examples of disk wheels. It indicated that a 20mm tire would be a better choice when using a flat sided disk with aluminum braking surface like a Renn, but a 21 with a Zipp or Corima disk with carbon braking surface. I think it mentioned a lenticular disk with aluminum braking surface was ok with a 21 as well.

My only concern about the Chrono CS is puncture resistance. That tire is very light and has really thin sidewalls. It probably has very low rolling resistance by design. I have one that I’ve not yet mounted, but might do so as I have a Renn575 which is claimed to be a good match. I’ll be dumping the taped on Tufo S3 Lite when I do. (I always felt slower with the disk but couldn’t figure why.) I suspect some amount of credibility to alot of the similar claims about the tape/tufo combo being slower.

I have the older model (2004), which has since been redesigned. Not sure what the difference is, but the newer one carries the EVO label which I was told had some added durability when the Corsa changed to the Corsa EVO. I’d suspect some of the same differences might apply to this newer Chrono as well.
