Vittoria Corsa Speed with tube

This may be a stupid question, but will I lose anything from running Vittoria Corsa Speed with latex tubes instead of tubeless? Have a race coming up soon and won’t have enough time to become confident with tubeless.

The tubes will add a very small amount of rolling resistance.

Kind of what I thought then. Another question, how about pre-applying sealant like Pit stop or something similar? How well does it work? And will it affect feel, resistance in any way?

Sealant usually works well on small punctures.

It doesn’t affect the feel or rolling resistance.

Thanks for the help, will start using sealant preemptively for the remaining weeks along with some new tires.

Make sure that you put a new set of tires on your wheels before the race.

Yeah already have an extra set for that. Now just hoping for good weather and smooth roads

I really like the tubeless setup. After last weekend, I’m a believer after picking up a strip of staples. I actually rode about 15k with these in the tire. I suspected there had been a puncture from the tick tick sound, but I kept riding because sealant wasn’t t flying all over and there was no feeling of pressure loss. Afterwards, I pulled all of them out and the punctures were fully sealed. I checked the pressure and went from 100psi pre ride down to 75psi.
I put in about 3 to 4 oz of orange seal when they were mounted about a month and a half ago.

I’ve gotten lots of staples and thorns stuck in tires with latex tubes and they did not puncture the tube.

And latex tubes add essentially zero Crr. Too small to be measured. Latex is a super low hysteresis material, which is why it’s used on harpoons and slingshots. Don’t believe poor testing and hand waving to the contrary.

rruff, your advice has guided me for many things on this forum, including the use of latex tubes. I’m not saying latex tube with sealant is a bad option. I ran with that for a long time with success. I just prefer tubeless with the tire sealant now. Time will tell.

I agree, if you want to use sealant it’s better to go tubeless.

BTW has anyone tested the G+ Pista clincher? They are not tubeless and are lighter than the CS, which would probably mean they are easier to mount and slightly faster.

I glossed over the not having time to become confident in tubeless. What rruff said x2.

That is impressive that you could get that many punctures and only lose 25psi
