Vitor Meira (INDY Car) to race Ironman 70.3 WC

This is probably the first time triathlon has made headlines in Indianapolis. I could not find if he actually qualified or got some special exemption.
Meira recently broke 1:30 at the Indianapolis Half Marathon and went 5:10 at Ironman 70.3 Pucon.

Yeah a few of my buddies are pretty good friends w him. said hes a pretty strong rider. They were out riding w Mira, Kanaan, Dixon, and a few others out at eagle creek last week. Pretty cool

Vitor had a nice race and biked 02:23:09, but slowed down a bit on the run and ended up with 5:17:46. Tony Kanaan had a 2:29 bike split despite dealing with a flat tire and ended up 5:23:43 total. No pit crew for Tony as he pointed out, and he seemingly cut his fingers.

It is great that this guys are racing and I’ll soon do an interview with another Indy Cart driver triathlete

Jaison Button from F-1 also did Miami today.
5h05 he is stronger than others, with less “triathlon marketing”
