especially one that might handle an open water swim? We have 5 days in SoCal and want to hit a beach for one day. Any suggestions?? We’ll be staying in Anaheim. The kids are young and would be thrilled to thaw out and play in the sand and get a little wet before coming back to the snow.
February is not exactly beach weather. It might be, you never know. Coming from a frozen state, you may thiink any February weather here is beach weather. From Anaheim, probably Huntington Beach. You could simply go down Beach Blvd and stop when you hit water. If it’s windy, a protected beach may be nicer, such as Salt Creek beach or Corona Del Mar (real nice for ocean swims). Bring the wetsuit.
Can you give me any idea of the water temp? Is a wetsuit necessary because it is breat-takingly cold, or is it just a bit below comfortable? THANKS!
Yesterday, water was about 57F.
Figure the water to be around 60 and the air around 63 - average Feb. temperatures.

Who knows, though, you may be lucky and El Niño will pick up and raise the temp a bit, but then we might have a lot of storms as well.
