Just got my new visiontech mini clip ons. I put them on a 2004 specialized allez pro, road bike. I love compact size and it sems as though I can still use the top of the handle bar for climbing. They are my first step into the world orf aero bars and I wanted something that would not take over the front of my bike.
Two things that came up from using them riding on the trainer seems to be…
1.) Too short could be just a little longer.
2.) The pads seem to be very uncomoftable. The pads seem to really dig into my forearms, but this is my first set of aerobars and maybe I need get used to them or use a lighter touch.
Do I have them installed at a wrong angle? Can you get better pads? I can live with them being a little short, but the way they dig into my forearms they seem destined for the exspensive junk parts box in my basement.
Anyone have any advice or ideas on if I set these up wrong. I know a lot of people here liked them.
Dunno about the VT’s but i always found that small size Syntace C2’s were more comfy than Profile Jammer GT’s on my medium frame Giant TCR. They were also just a bit longer.
you can get thinker pads for the mini-clipons. They make a big difference in comfortability. However I wish that they would have made the bar extensions slightly angled in. However good clip-ons for a road bike. I think I was using them much more than just about anyone that I saw riding tri-bikes on the IMAZ course Sunday.
make sure that you specify that they are for the mini clip-ons and that the person you talk to understands that they are a different shape than the regular deluxe pads.
