Vision TT bars on Road bike?

Okay, this is a followup to my earlier thread…

I was looking at the Vision Tech TT bar (reguar bend, not s-bend). Wondering if it is too long to be practical on a road bike? should I go with the TT mini?

Also wondering about the Vision Drinkmore system???

I’m also considering:

  • Profile Jammer GT
  • Oval A700 SLAM
  • Syntace C2

The current front-runner is the Syntace…

Comments? suggestions?

I would get away from the Vision Mini’s as well as the C2’s.

I would use the smallest Vision (not mini’s) or something like the Profile T2 Cobra’s or the Hed Clip-lites. I actually have just switched from the C2’s to the clip-lites on my triathlon bike. My winter road/tri bike has the T2 Cobra’s cut down to the perfect fit.

Just some thoughts. I figured if you were going to use the C2’s (small) that this would not be used for ITU races.

I didn’t see your earlier thread but generally you are better off with a clip on bar for a road bike. The answer for you depends entirely on how you’re set up on your current road bike and what alterations you can make to get the right fit on that bike.

I’m in the same dilemna, trying to find the right aero bar for my wife’s road bike through trial and error. It’s personal preference and she’s picky, so the bars below are available if you’re interested.

  1. Big Slam bars by Oval concepts (Profile Jammer aero bars w/ Oval Concepts risers/pads)
  2. Syntace C2’s

I the “old days” we used Profile bars on road bikes since you could adjust the length. When my son started bike racing a few years ago, we dusted off my old Profiles and he won a few TTs on them.

You will want something shorter than you’d use with a tri bike because your position is farther back.

I really like my Profile Lighting Stryke clip on with my road bar. FWIW

Ooh, that looks interesting… how does it attach to the stem??

You have to use a Profile stem. It has a bottom and top clamp that fits around the stem. It does not mount directly on the bars. I got it because I have an ergonomic road bar that is incompatible with clip on bars. It works really nice for me - the arms rests are right on the top of the bars with no space in between. And of course the TT bar goes under the road bar.
