Trying to adjust these and the spacers therein. Anyone have trouble with the screws or tips? I’m having a hard time screwing them back in, about halfway in it becomes very difficult and seems to require so much torque that it will break my allen wrench. Screws are all lubed up, so I’m not sure why this isn’t working.
Do I need a torque wrench?

Are you using the correct length bolt, is it bottoming out?
Gary’s right. If you have gone to shorter spacers you’ll need to use the shorter screws provided with the kit. There are 12.5 mm and 25 mm length screws provided with the bars or spacer kts.
Are you changing from the big pads to the smaller pads? If so, the stock screw kit is not the right length. Take a trip to your local hardward store. Just remember: metric.
I had the same problem…the screws were bottoming out. A trip to the hardware store solved the problem in 5 minutes. Bring down one of the screws and say “I need some of these but a bit shorter”. Actually what I did first was just throw a couple washers under the spacers until I fixed the problem with shorter screws.

Maybe the internal threads on your clip-ons are damaged? I know from experience that they are pretty fragile.
Let me know what you find out, I had the same problem where the screws that they gave me that were the right length were really tight to insert. They were the right length and same thread as the ones that they sold me, but they were just really tight.
Pretty much brand new bars, and not clip-ons.
Anyone have ANY tips? Screw is not bottoming out, we’re talking just trying to put the same screw right back in.
