I installed a pair of Vision Tech Mini Clip-On Aerobars on my road-bike and I’m trying to figure out what to do with the thumb rest (Spoiler) they provide. Does anyone have them installed, how do you like it? Not convinced that the spoiler has an aero advantage. I’ve ridden on the new bards without the spoiler and find it difficult to stay on the bars for too long because my hands tented to slip forward. So the spoiler thingy might help me get a better grip. My other option is to just go with bar-tape.
Also, where to you mount your computer now? I ordered a carbon computer bridge to mount the computer on, but will that leave enough room for the spoiler and a place to grip?
I’ve had the bars for about 2 weeks and I’m having real trouble getting comfortable on them. The pads hit right inthebony part of my forearm right below the wrist. I think the thumb rest is more for stability of the bars that any other purpose. Sometimes I rest my arms further down on my forearms so that my hands go past the end of the bars. Not good if I hit a bump-not really holding on. So far, I don’t like the bars.
I’ve had mine for a few weeks and I like them a lot. I ordered a new Cateye that is stem mounted, that solved that problem. I can’t wear a watch or else it hits the pad on that bone on my wrist and yeah it hurts.
As for the spoiler thingy I never installed it. It seemed a waste of weight and got in the way. Mine are nude for now but I might but some tape on them soon.
I can’t ride very well on them yet. They do hurt my back sooner than the profile Airstrykes did. But I love that I can pull on them for leverage which is exactly what I wanted.
I tried out a pair that my Father has on his bike this weekend and they just were not for me. I think that I may be too tall for them. To hold on to them at all made my knees hit my elbows.
