FSA has been promising these bars for quite some time. The latest promise is the AL Tri max bars in April 1st and the Carbon no later than May 1st. I don’t have much confidence that they will make these new dates. Anyone have any insight into the probability of seeing these new bars soon? Is there any way of obtaining these bars any faster (i.e., anyone/dealers getting first dibs on the bars)?
I heard June and it was an “economy of scale” issue, although that is totally from the rumor mill.
In the mean time, we just have to wait. And wait. And wait. And wait.
I first asked after FSA about the new handlebar availability after Interbike and was told December 1. So don’t put any faith in what VT/FSA is telling you, They only know what their subcontractor over in Asia is promising them over the phone.
Once the stuff is finished it still has to get shipped to the U.S. “on a slow leaky boat from China”. It could take weeks before it gets in the hands of retailers.
On a related note, Visiontech is advertising the base bars as backordered with a 3/15/2004 delivery date (today).
What are the claiming for a retail price on that base bar? When I’d asked back right before interbike they’d claimed it would be $79. I find that hard to believe.

$69, I think. Of course you can advertise any price you want if there aren’t any in stock.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the final price ends up being higher if for no other reason than how poorly the dollar has performed against other currencies since last Summer. But even at $100 it should be a cool product if it ever arrives.
I’ve see the MSRP at 199 for the carbon base bar, 69 for the alloy.

What size clamp does the bar take? Do you need the stem where the face plate comes off?
